      Thoughts? Line-up? Result?

I think it will be tight and will be hard to come away with a result but I have a good feeling sure the boys wont let us down. My line up:

                        Reina

      Finnan  Carragher  Arbeloa  Aurelio

            Yossi    Gerrard    Riise

             Kuyt   Voronin   Babel

Subs: Itandje Crouch Mascherano Pennant Hyypia

I see a 2-1 win. Babel and Riise scoring. Come on you Reds!

There's no way I'd go into the Goodison Derby with 3  in midfield.

If we were it would certianly have to be our best 3 central midfielders.

That lot normally play 5 in midifeld against us and we'd get murdered playing 3, that 3 anyway.

I'd say that it would be Kewell's come back but like bootle buck said, you can't play 3 in midfield againest Everton.
                                     Reina
      Finnan           Hyypia          Carragher      Arbeloa

Kuyt and Babel could drop back in to the wings easily in defence and push up in attack. Just like the Dutch team. ;)

      OR:

                     Yossi    Masherano   Gerrard

                         Kuyt   Voronin   Babel

Just to have a solid midfield and slightly more defensive.

Going on the assumption that Torres will be out injured id go with this team

                                                         Reina

      Finnan                          Carra                   Hyppia            Arbeloa

      Pennant                       Gerrard               Masch             Babel

                           Crouch                       Voronin

If Agger is fit I wouldnt throw him back in for this one and that same for Alonso. I think we will need to be patient and pass the ball around well as they will set the early tempo. Kuyt and Torres if injured would be huge losses but we are still well capable of getting 3 points here tho I feel Gerrard will have to step up a gear to push us on.

Some problems with this thread - Kuyt & Torres are both out injured - Kewell has only started training again today so it wouldnt make much sense to rush him back in to the fold !!! As for Crouchie, the man has become a liability, I wouldnt trust him with a mop job :-(

Kuyt and Torres are to go intensive training at Melwood in a race to be fit for this weekend. Kewell wont play any part.

If Kuyt is injured, Babel to go to the right attacking role and Voronin to go to the left with Crouch in the middle.

      Putterrill on the bench ;)

Torres is working to get back in time for the derby, see HERE. Unless there have been any new developments Kuyt's injury was just a knock & there was no mention of him not being back for this game, and seeing as the left side of midfield is a major problem area for us at the moment I don't see why Kewell shouldn't at least be considered. So I don't really see what problems there are with this thread.

yeh i think your right on  that one kopsecret so my line up would be the sam as brians but swap crouch for kuyt if hes fit.

torres i dont think should be rushed or we could have further problems down the track and the latter games will be more crucial than beating everton

      lfc.tv

Fernando Torres will undergo intensive treatment at Melwood this week in a bid to be fit for Saturday's Merseyside derby.
The Spanish striker missed his country's Euro 2008 qualifier in Denmark over the weekend with a thigh problem and is now back in Liverpool working with the Reds' medical team.

"Fernando was assessed by the club's medical staff this morning and underwent a scan which confirmed an adductor injury," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.

"He will now undergo intensive treatment at Melwood."

Kuyt pulled his hamstring, which was serious enough to rule him out of Hollands games, which means it wasnt a 'minor' pull, which in turn means a couple of weeks on the sidelines :-(
As DOBBS83 says - rushing Torres back from a muscle strain could come back to haunt us further down the line - best to give him more time - we have (in theory) the strength in depth to cope with Torres loss against Everton (who are also without Johnson :-) ).
Kewell, has no match practice at all - I'd rather a nervous Leto instead, but reckon Riise should play

TBH mate I haven't seen anything anywhere to suggest that he won't be available, apart from the website in your sig. The club certainly haven't reported anything of the like, it doesn't have to be a major strain to keep you out of two games when those two games are on a Saturday & a Wednesday, chances are the club insisted on him not playing as a precautionary measure.

It was the Dutch FA who ruled him out for both games, seen it on ESPN, Football365 and icLiverpool.
Hope it is just a case of him being ruled out of the second one as a precautionary move - guess we'll find out for sure on Saturday ;-)

Lets go for certain starters first. Reina travelled with spain but he's never gonna be rested.
                                                   Carra (didn't travel)
                                                   Arbeloa(didn't travel)
                                                    Pennant(didn't travel)
Sissoko (didn't travel and rafa sticking with him)
Finnan(should play as he only travelled to dublin and aurelio isn't fully fit)
Babel ( only played the last 12 mins on saturday)
                                                       Agger(if fit,if not then Hyypia)
Alonso(if fit, because gerrard is playing two games in a week)
Both Kuyt and Torres will start if fit if not voronin(3rd choice) then crouch
Mascherano(sub because he's played two games in argentina, too much travel)

As for result i'm going for 2-1,it'll  be a tough game but I'm sure we can do it.

Finnan & Aurelio play on different sides of the pitch ???

I'll wait to see what happens in Wednesdays games before picking a lineup.

I know, but Finnan can play right back too ,he does sometimes for ireland ,as I don't think Rafa will play Riise.

      Dear oh dear.

Finnan plays right back normally, I think you mean he has played left back occassionally for ROI. If Finnan did cover on the left it would be Arbeloa taking his place on the right, and seeing as Arbeloa's comfortable playing on the left, surely it would be easier & make more sense for him to play there?

Do Everton use their 5 man midfield.  I thought only the back four and the striker got a kick.

Bitter blue bas**rds.  Their forums are obsessed with us all year round while we are really only interested on the odd occasion they make fools of themselves ie. moving out of Liverpool to go to some Tesco superstore, nearly get knocked out by some Ukrainian postmen, have to give season tickets away with mobile phones etc etc.

This is the fact of the situation.

Everton are, always were, always will be, in the shadow of Liverpool FC.

They deserve to get a good hiding off us for their '3 shots 3 goals' victory last year.  And the best thing of all is that when we beat them we won't be bringing out a special DVD like it was the World Cup Final.

      Come on you redmen.
