      • At the end of the storm, there’s a golden sky.
Luis Garcia announces retirement from football
      Jan 14, 2014 12:17:02 pm
And it is the moment ,not easy for anyone and inevitable for all us.
There have been many years enjoying what fascinates me , great times spent and the opportunity to see fulfilled the dream I had when I was just a kid .
Today I´ve decided to retire as a professional footballer, thanking the interest of the teams that talked to me in recent weeks, but I think it’s time to end this important chapter in my life and move to the next page.
Thank you, thank you very much to my parents for all those afternoons of heat and cold they spent just to see me happy when I was little. For those Munich boots you bought, working so hard, to let me continue kicking the ball. For all those summers with no vacation. For teaching me to sacrifice myself for what I loved most .
To all my family for always accompany me on this adventure with words of encouragement and support.
To Manolo, my friend and agent , for keeping my feet on the ground and believe in me from the beginning.
To all my teammates, for many concentrations , anecdotes and experiences shared .
To Rafa Benitez and Pako Ayestarán, for teaching me to show my best .
To Luis Aragones, for allowing me to live the dream of every football player, represent his country in a World Cup .
To all my coaches since academy, for guiding me and believe in my football .
To Badalona and S.Gabriel for making me as person ,  to FC. Barcelona for opening me the door , to Valladolid , Tenerife and Toledo for letting establish myself on first division, to Atletico Madrid for making me enjoy a Calderón Stadium on fire, to R.Santander and Panathinaikos for goods experiences , to Puebla and Pumas for the opportunity to live in a country of warm people and a passionate football, and to Liverpool FC for making me pass to the history of international football and be part fo the Red family, forever.
To each and every one of the people over 17 years of career that have been with me , have helped me and supported me at every stage I have lived and although not mentioned one by one, I will be forever grateful .
And last but not least, the fans, to all who have followed me over the years , always with good intentions , always encouraging and motivating me every game to be a better player every day.
Thank you all for being part of the history of my career and welcome to the next page.

All the best in your new chapter Luis, one of my favorite players to have watched play in the Red shirt, loved that magnificent goal against the chavs, one of my dearest memories of him.

Was so frustrating but always seemed to score the important goals. Will always have fond memories of him and it's hard to think of Istanbul without thinking about him.

      Plus he's such a cutie! ;)

Enjoy retirement and do come back to Liverpool.

Every goal Garcia scored was an absolute gem! The Anderlecht header, the Juventus 30 yard lob, the Charlton goal, the Chelsea FA Cup volley. F**k, Garcia had so many pearlers in his day. What a legend!

Funny how his career has been inconsistent and he didn't actually stay with us for that long, but man, what an impact he had!

He's a vital part of some of the best LFC memories I have and probably will ever have.

YNWA Luis, good luck with your future careers.

A bit inconsistent, but hard not to like this guy; he had some truly great moments in a Liverpool shirt and will always have a place in club folklore.

Wish him all the best with whatever he decides to do now.

Just read this on another site. I absolutely loved him, he was a joy to watch.
Not only that, he just comes across as a thoroughly decent and humble, human being.
I really hope we see him at Anfield soon, just enjoying watching the Reds.
I'm sure we'll hear a few renditions of his song this weekend.http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=dD6RBrZGdAY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DdD6RBrZGdAY%26feature%3Dyoutu.be

Shame we didn't have him at the club for longer but he without doubt left his mark at the club!

According to a report on ESPN Luis Garcia has announced his retirement from football. He thanks L.F.C for being part of the REDS FAMILY.I would add that the REDS Family can never thank Luis Garcia enough for that goal he scored against Chelsea to put us through to the Champions League Final in Istanbul in 2005.Enjoy your retirement Luis and thanks for being part of our Liverpool Football Club history :kop5cf8koxp6: : I have put this in the General Football board but his achievement against Chelsea merits it going on the KOP board.

Mods feel free to remove this as I have noted that this thread is on another board, cheers.

Liverpool legend Luis Garcia rolls back the years with incredible back-heel goal

      Lee Thomas-Mason for Metro.co.ukSaturday 30 Jan 2016 1:06 pm

Watch Liverpool legend roll back the years and become the hero with cheeky back-heel goal

Former Liverpool forward Luis Garcia proved he’s still got it by scoring his first goal for Central Coast Mariners with a cheeky back-heel.

Garcia was snapped up by the Mariners after impressing in a Liverpool legends charity match, dusting off his boots after leaving the Indian Super League where he played for Atlético de Kolkata in 2014.

Having made his debut as a substitute in a 3-1 defeat against league leaders Western Sydney Wanderers last week, the 36-year-old was introduced at half-time again in his second outing for the club.

And, with the Mariners currently bottom of the league and desperate for a win, Garcia stepped up within four minutes of his arrive to score the cheekiest of goals:
