Breaking news on the BBC at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bolton_wanderers/7048701.stm

Statement from the Official Bolton site:

BOLTON WANDERERS Football Club, Sammy Lee and Frank McParland have agreed to part company by mutual consent.

Bolton Wanderers Chairman Phil Gartside states: "This has been a difficult decision for all parties but we have agreed that time is right.

"Sammy has played an important role in the Club's recent history.  We wish Sammy and Frank well for the future.

"Our efforts will now be to look for a replacement manager and to concentrate on the future."

The Club will be making no further comment at this moment in time.

Now Bolton are in the sh*t! I really thought Sammy would continue at the club despite the below average performances.  Good luck for the future mate hope you find another club soon.

Edit: There's that word again "Mutual" hmmm I wonder........

Bolton have parted company with manager Sammy Lee by mutual consent.

Lee, 48, was promoted from assistant manager in April after the exit of former boss Sam Allardyce.

But he has had a difficult start to the current campaign as Bolton lie second from bottom of the Premier League with just one league win to their credit.

"This has been a difficult decision for all parties but we have agreed the time is right," Bolton chairman Phil Gartside told the club's website.

General manager Frank McParland has also left the club.

First-team coach Ricky Sbragia could now take temporary charge of the side who face a trip to in-form Arsenal on Saturday.....

I wish him luck really, he was a great servant for us and I was please for him to have a chance to managed a Premier League team, unfortunaly the catastrophic beginning of the season didn't do him any favors...good Luck Little Sammy Lee...

      From LFC.TV

Former Liverpool midfielder Sammy Lee has left his post as manager of Bolton Wanderers by mutual consent.
The 48-year-old took over from the departing Sam Allardyce at the end of last season but has since struggled to live up to expectations at the Reebok Stadium, with the Trotters currently languishing in 19th place at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Bolton's general manager Frank McParland has also left the club.

"This has been a difficult decision for all parties but we have agreed the time is right," Bolton chairman Phil Gartside told his club's website.

"Sammy has played an important role in the club's recent history. We wish Sammy and Frank well for the future."

Just a bridge to far for the man. Good luck though, on your future endeavours Mr Lee...

Gary Speed was supposed to be joining Sheff Utd today (post fall-out with Sammy Lee) - has that Sheff Utd deal gone through?

If it hasn't could Gary Speed be made player/coach - with some one like Gary Mac (ex Leeds colleague) joining him within the Reebok management team - just a thought...

Maybe Sammy is always destined to only be a No.2

So maybe he could be Rafa's number 2...not sure whether it would work though. :-\

Rafa certainly has his own way of doing things, and he may not want Sammy's ex Liverpool way of doing things interfering with his current thinking??

What people say & what people think are often two entirely different things. Rumour has it that the final straw was him dropping Speed & Nolan from the team, and that he had lost a lot of respect from the sqaud.

Nothing to loose by bringing Sammy back. He was involved as a player and was part of the Houllier era and there's nothing that he has not seen already as a player and a member of the management team. If there's any truth to the rumours that Rafa could not deal with the players on a personal term, perhaps bringing Sammy back may help as players tend to respect the asst. mgr whom was a player before. He tends to get involve very much throughout a game at the by-line, jumping up and down, that's what we like to see urging the players on and we have seen him doing just that already during his tenure here before the sacking of Houlier.

      Good coach, crap manager.

Honestly, It was only a matter of time before he was sacked. And don't give me any rubbish about "mutual consent". His annoying face talking about the "positives" of every Bolton game was getting on my nerves. As for bringing him to Liverpool, I'm split on that one...
