      What the F**K  :f_steam:

Fundraisers had travelled hundreds of miles to take part in charity race in memory of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster only to have bikes stolen
Callous: Thieves smashed a window and stole bikes, cash and clothes

Charity bike riders who were due to take part in a fundraising race in memory of victims of the Hillsborough disaster have had their passports and cycles stolen while on a tour of Anfield.

Callous thieves smashed their way in to the Cycle 4 Sick Children van in broad daylight as it was parked in a road directly outside the famous stadium.

The team of six arrived in Liverpool from Ireland this morning in preparation for tomorrow’s Ride for the 96 charity bike ride.

Arriving too early to check in to their hotel, the team – all of who have spent years raising thousands of pounds on charity bike rides for sick children in Ireland – decided to take up some time with a tour of their favourite team’s home ground.

Liam Mulcahy, founder of the charity and member of the race team, told the Mirror that when they came out they discovered the van window had been smashed and all bikes, passports, equipment and cash had been stolen.

He said: “I feel sick to the stomach actually. It’s really hard to put in words what this has done to us as we were over here to support the victims of Hillsborough.

“With it being the 25th anniversary and so many of us being Liverpool fans, it is a subject that is close to our heart but this has just devastated us.”

The bike race is a 96 kilometre ride around Merseyside with all money going to charity.

Liam revealed that since the theft the team had been left without any cash and were now considering just returning home.

He said: “I understand the clothes and money will be gone, but if we could at least get he bikes back it would mean a lot.

“The lads have done so much work on them and raised so much in other events that these are not just your normal bikes, they are part of our lives.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
