Hillsbrough Inquest - please support the ambulance driver
      May 11, 2014 11:28:47 pm
Tony Edwards was the Paramedic on the only ambulance to get onto the pitch during the Hillsborough disaster. What he witnessed that day has haunted him ever since. Many of you may have seen him on the various programmes that have been shown about Hillsborough. He had to retire from his job and now lives on one of the Scottish islands.

In the 25 years since that tragic disaster, Tony has publically supported the families of the 96 victims, and has been a critic of the West Yorkshire Ambulance service. He will be called to give evidence in the new inquest, but because he will be critical of his former employer he will not be receiving any legal representation from them and is therefore expected to pay for his own legal support.

Tony is seeking support to appeal to the Home secretary to allow his legal representation to be paid for by the state in the same way that The Police and Ambulance service will be entitled to do.

After 25 years the families want to know the truth and Tony wishes to give his evidence but clearly he wants to also have legal counsel. His presence on the pitch that day was a working man seeking to do his best to protect and give service to the victims of this tragedy.

Please sign his petition linked below and ask your family and friends to pass this on to those who want to see justice done for the 96 football fans who lost their lives in such tragic circumstances.

       Many thanks.

      Done.

One question though, it sounds as though his evidence is going to help the cause for justice so can't he be helped by the HJC's legal team or be given access to some help from the donation fund?

It sounds as though his life was seriously affected by his experience.

Was going to ask that myself mate.  Surely the HJC is there to help anybody effected that can't get help elsewhere.
