      It's most definitely on then.

As reported in Sportske Novosti, Dejan Lovren's £20m move from Southampton to Liverpool is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Can't say I'm too excited about this one, don't really rate him myself.

I'm very much on the fence with this one. I really can't remember any of his performances for them but they did always seems pretty solid at the back, certainly in the first half of the season. Obviously goes without saying but hopefully if it does go through then he will turn out to be a top, top player and prove his worth whilst helping to take us towards a lot of success.

Who is our defensive coach? Needs to have a word imo.

How does this relate to us signing Lovren exactly?

Have to say I'm not a fan of this one, really don't think he's any upgrade on what we have, don't see the point of spending £20mill on him. Goes without saying that I hope he proves me wrong.

I rate Lovren, higher than most people. £20 million is very expensive however, but I think there's a lack of quality central defenders out there and the David Luiz fee has inflated the entire market.

Has a much bigger physical presence than Skrtel and Agger which I feel is going to make us stronger, as we usually struggle to cope against big strong strikers (Lukaku, Negredo, Benteke) just to name 3 players who played well against us last season.

Lovren would be a big improvement to Skrtel in terms of his distribution, but £20 million is still a lot of money. I think there's better value for money out there but I still think he's a very capable player.

Ok, does'nt relate to Lovren, but to every defender, and how we play.
We could buy the best defender on the planet, but if they're not played right, we will still concede 50 odd goals this season.
If you cant see that, then fine.

Where in my post did I say I don't think our coaching of the defenders doesn't need to improve? I'm struggling to find it...

      Loads of reports saying £16M.

Being brought in because Brendan wants a commanding CB who is also vocal....apparently!

      Who makes way then?

£16mill seems more of a realistic fee. I know it's only £4mill less than the believed 20 but just doesn't seem anywhere near as high to me.

In terms of who makes way I would say Kolo Toure. I expect Ilori will be going out on loan and 4 CB's of Lovren, Sakho, Agger and Skrtel isn't the worst by any stretch of the imagination. In terms of the starting two then given the fact Lovren would be the new addition and for quite a fee, I can see it being him and Sakho.

Fully appreciate its hard to get too excited about this be but I don't think anyone has really been paying too much attention to the lad during the past season so I haven't as yet read an opinion from anybody who seems to have a handle on how good Lovren is/isn't

Considering someone offered us 14M for Borini and 7M for Assaidi, 20M is not that bad of a deal. Lots of inflation in today's transfer market.

I know it's only Youtube but here's a little glimpse of him. I know Youtube could make Luke Chadwick look as good as Zidane but still, it's better than nothing seeing as we probably have all paid very little attention to him over the last year.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with all that money spent on the two of them. I'd also agree with sending Lori out for some more valuable game time, let Toure go to Saudi or wherever it is and then perhaps Coates as emergency back up.

Just hope Brendan can keep them all relatively happy!

I'm sure he would be able to keep them all happy. The players know that there are now 4 competitions they are in so there has to be depth to the squad. At the same time hopefully the extra competition for places would help push them on and bring out the best in each other as they will know that if they aren't performing then there is somebody more than ready to step in and take their place.

I forgot all about Coates, personally I would sell him whilst we still have the chance. If we need an emergency player to step in then I'm sure there would be a youngster/Martin Kelly more than ready to step in.

Who would the partnership be? Sakho and Lovren for me, bring Skrtel on when we need a goal.. either end

Just realised I haven't even seen Lovren play for us yet, bit premature from me there ahah
