Dante had appeared destined for Old Trafford during the January transfer window, however a last minute change of heart saw the Brazilian stick with the Bundesliga champions.

In United's previous attempts to sign the Brazilian international, he said that he "appreciates Manchester United's interest."

But it remains unclear whether new boss Louis Van Gaal wishes to pursue "The Chosen One"' January transfer target.


Despite the intense speculation surrounding Dante, Liverpool have entered the fray, and are desperate to beat both Man Utd and Chelsea to the centre-backs signature.

Liverpool enjoyed outstanding success during the Premier League season, gathering plaudits for their free flowing and attacking style of play.

But the organisation and quality of their defence has failed to stand up to even the most lacklustre of strike forces, conceding a staggering 50 goals.

Bayern paid just £4m for their ever present centre-half, and has been a main stay at the Allianz Arena since his arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012.

It remains unclear how much Dante will cost, but with the Brazilian having three-years remaining on his contract will allow Bayern Munich to dictate negations.

Well considering he'll be 31 in October, I'd imagine negotiations won't last very long if they want more than the £4m they paid.

Can't see this one happening.  Good player, but silly rumor.

All I ever see are you calling for threads to be closed and saying threads should never have been started. Not really for you to decide. You don't like a thread just move on. I'm only passing on something I saw, if you don't like it, there's no need to be a dick about it.

There's being logical and there's being a pain in the arse. Considering there's a source on the opening post then why should it be locked?

I personally don't think the transfer will happen but FL Red was just sharing what he found.

Unlikely. We just don't need another left sided CB (who frankly, after a good first season with Bayern, has been average for sometime). Probably only glancing in to raise the price for our competitors.

Mmmm no thanks - no doubt he's a good player, but he just doesn't scream "liverpool player" for me.
