That being said, I seriously hope that the club isn't dumb enough to award him a new contract.  He's done absolutely nothing for 95% of his time with us.  But suddenly he puts in a few half decent performances in the last few months, and scores a worldie, and we're going to commit to him for maybe another five years?!  Please tell me we're not doing this anymore.  He's not good enough.  Occasional moments of brilliance do nothing to change that.

Klopp keeps mentioning that he was playing through an injury. Since it's healed he's been superb. Surely that warrants another season?

Aside from Coutinho, he's been our best player this past month or so. That's certainly not faint praise from myself who slated him for everything under the sun after Christmas.

To put it in perspective, while he was scoring the goal of the season, football 'experts' like myself were throwing my stomach lining up suffering from food poisoning and crumpled in a sorry heap on my bed. Kinda sums up everything!

You have to give it to him. I don't think we're playing that well but he's been crucial in scraping up 9 points in four games.

Truly believe this kid will become a major player for us next season...

Never thought I'd be saying this, but I'd be gutted if we lose him, I hope we get his contract sorted.

At his best (and last night was probably the best I've seen him play all round, not just that goal), Emre is a powerful presence in the middle.  We've certainly seen poor performances from him this season, but it's emerged that he was carrying an injury - I should hope he was, 'cos he was dreadful.  But in some of the last few games he's stepped-up, and at times he's made me wonder how Jordan can get back in (if he's ever fit enough again). 

I've been sceptical about Emre since he arrived, I'll admit.  He seemed to lack sharpness and awareness, made poor decisions too often, and only showed his quality briefly and intermittently. I hope he proves me wrong, because he could be exactly what we need to combat the thug teams of this league, IF (and only if) he can consistently reach the levels he did yesterday.

I love how Coutinho was having a goal of the season competition on his own for most of the season until Can come up with that beauty .

I just watched that goal again -- it is impossible not to smile!!  One of the most outrageous goals I've ever witnessed!!

Couldn't agree more. He has been an absolute beast of a player since we lost Hendo. Has proven me wrong just like how Hendo and Lucas has!

The thing is though, nobody has a clue about how good of a captain Henderson was, is or will continue to be. We only see it on the pitch for 90 minutes a week (most weeks).

You have a point there. When I think of Hendo as a captain, I always think of the one moment when Balotelli just took the ball off his hand when he was about to take a penalty. A strong captain should not let that happen, regardless of who is front of him.
