I am happy we signed a new player but, it concerns me that we have signed a player that could end up being like Alberto or Teixera... why? Aren't Teixeira or Alberto capable of breaking through? I was kind of hoping for Fabrigas or Lallana. Bayer Leverkusen finished  in a Europa Spot, if Emre Can was that good would they be selling him after one season for 10m?

Neither Alberto or Teixeira have the versatility Can does.
Neither have played in the Champions League.

Can played AM, DM & CB. Great to have another player in there with Henderson's versatility and energy.
Something that we badly missed when Henderson got his 3 game ban.

Mix Diskerud! (OK, he isn't *that* good, but I love the guy haha)

The only other one that comes to mind is Havard Nordtveit at Gladbach, who also isn't particularly great.

      What I would have liked,

      Striker: Diego Costa
      Midfielder: Cesc Fabrigas
      Defender: Thiago Silva

      Cost: 90m.

      What we will get.

      Striker: Ricky Lambert:
      Midfielder: Emre Can
      Defender: Moreno

      Cost: 24m.

      Where is our revenue going?

;D, I think most fans in the world would 'like' to sign the likes of Thiago Silva, but only a couple of clubs realistically can or want to accommodate such astronomical financial dealings for just one human being.

Following the Norwegian national side at the moment is almost worse than the dark dark days of Hodgson. :-(

Oh F**k me, you're at it AGAIN aren't you? You don't give it a rest!

We're what, five days into the transfer window and you're already moaning about players we haven't signed (or in your opinion SHOULD have signed at all costs). We've barely even started on our transfers yet and you're whinging like a little school girl. It's unbelievable and almost laughable.

How about this, I'll make a step-by-step guide for you to follow Riba, so that this window will be a little easier for your delicate mind:

1 - Keep up with our ACTUAL targets - not pipe dreams
2 - Discuss our targets at length with other users debating their strengths and weaknesses
3 - Weigh up whether or not they'd be a good fit at Liverpool (and by the way, in many people's opinions, Can and Lambert would be superb here)
4 - See how they perform on match days

      Alternatively:

1 - Locate the logout button
      2 - Click it

      Your choice.

Oh, and Leverkusen finished in a CL spot. Not Europa League.

Think I'll wait to see what he looks like on the pitch before I get too carried away, I can still remember the Sahin thread and how he was supposed to be a F***ing world-beater!

The equal would be the manager playing Can as a goal keeper or winger.

He played Sahin completely out of position.

That being said, Can is a very quality player who if he settles will do very well here.

Not seen a lot of him but his versatility is certainly a positive, as well as his age. He strikes me as someone who just need a little bit of fine-tuning in order to be up their with being 'excellent'. I am pretty sure I saw him play (if it wasn't him, I feel stupid) for a German youth team against Mexico in a final of a youth tournament. Pretty sure it was in Mexico, as every game was full of Mexico fans, and if it was him, I couldn't believe his stature and build at such a young age. He really stood out for me and, if I remember correctly, got a great goal in the final. I remember hearing he was at Bayern and thought 'no chance anyone like us will be buying him'. If it really was him, how stupid I was!! What slightly sickens me is that he is 3 years younger than me. :'(

Anyway, welcome to the club Emre!

I knew I wasn't making it up, although it was the semi-final, not the final. If I also remember correctly, Samed Yesil was playing so he might know him. 25 secs in:

It's his release clause, they have no choice so before you start trying to criticise the deal maybe know your facts first.

Some underestimate the impact this kind of thing can have on a player signing or settling in to a new club but I agree with you. To add to that, wouldn't be surprised if Big Sami had a word in his ear.

One thing about Can...he looks like he's got a bit of swagger about him, no nonsense, kick you as soon as look at you type of attitude. I like that and think we need more of it in the squad.

Excellent signing, now go and get Martinez to complete a strong midfield "squad".

Don't see that happening, wouldn't make sense. Martinez plays the same position as Gerrard, Can and Lucas do. Even if Lucas leaves I can't see Brendan going for a big name like Martinez, as he'd prevent Can from getting any playing time whatsoever.
