I'm astonished that Wellbeck gets into an international team.

      Far too generous, so fixed.

England XI: Hart, Johnson, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Gerrard, Henderson, Welbeck, Sterling, Rooney, Sturridge

Welbeck over Lallana. This has to be some kind of sick F***ing joke.

Hodgson has gone for pace. Personally think a weird decision as Italy will play deep.

I think....cough cough feel bloody dirty saying it, but Neville has had a lot of input into that side. He's been banging on how the lads should be playing together all year on sky. Feeling very optimistic now.

I'm astonished that someone had a time machine, went back to the eighties and out of all the football players in the world they brought welbeck back.

      Word.

As for the match, 1-1 score bore. ingerland to score first and then shut up shop for 60 minutes.

Why are the teams released 2 hours before kick off? It's at 11pm right?

Welbeck over Lallana. This has to be some kind of sick f**king joke.

The problem with Welbeck isn't his work rate - that side of his game is genuinely good. It's his intelligence on the ball which isn't great. Numerous times in the three friendlies played prior to tonight he picked the ball up and ran with it into an opposition defender. He can't do that tonight otherwise he will get murdered by all in the stadium and on social media. I can understand Roy's approach to this game and it's much better to have Lallana as an insurance policy from the bench than having Welbeck. Given the conditions of this game it's important that an impact player is on there.

I'm really wanting to see our Redmen do great tonight so I'm very keen for England to do well at this tournament and I feel it should be in the best manners of all us Liverpool fans to wish the best for them. And I say that as a Scot.

Who knows how this will go. Hopefully me. Got Rooney first scorer and England half time and the draw full time.

I think we Roy has made a mistake in losing the extra central midfield player especially against a team like Italy. I think we may see Gerrard run ragged in this game.

      Not a happy chap :(

Will be interesting. Perhaps Rooney will have to do a lot of tracking back.

A certain Gabriel Paletta is playing for Italy tonight. Remember he was the young Argentinian who Rafa bought back in 2006? Seem to recall only one game of his - the league cup tie against Arsenal at Anfield in January 2007 when they thrashed us 6-3 (Baptista scoring 4). Paletta had a shocker especially under the high ball. He was all over the place. Tim Vickery the BBC South American Football Correspondent said his move to Liverpool came to early in his career so it will be fascinating to see how much he has progressed tonight.

      Diego the teams are...

England: Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines, Gerrard, Henderson, Welbeck, Sterling, Rooney, Sturridge.

Italy: Sirigu, Darmian, Paletta, Barzagli, Chiellini, De Rossi, Pirlo, Verratti, Marchisio, Candreva, Balotelli.

Thanks. I quite liked England's lineup, with the exception of Welbeck's inclusion of course. I'd switch him for a midfielder, Wilshere or maybe Barkley.

Hopefully Roy won't try to make them play long ball football though.
