Was at the Maracanã today working, could see some of the match though not all of it. Proud to have been a part of it as well.

Very very happy for Germany! Like I posted the other, this win would be (and now is) a perfect cap to the reinvention of German football. Absolute stunner by Gotze as well. Very difficult to trap with the chest that well while running forward. The best team won the whole thing, and I don't know if you could ask for more than that.

Argentina had a great tournament as well. They defended fantastically well. Mascherano was head and shoulders the best player on their team. Not sure a single player in this World Cup worked as hard as he did for his country.

Awarding the golden ball to Messi was shambolic. He wasn't even the best player on his team, let alone in the tournament. Should have been James Rodriguez. He was simply the most brilliant player this tournament. Even Manuel Neuer or Masch would have been better shouts than Messi.

For all that has been said and written about the Brazilian national football team, the country put on one hell of a show. Such perfect and brilliant hosts. Captured the spirit of football in a way Russia and certainly Qatar won't. It will be a long time before we get a World Cup like this again.

On the plus side at least Rio have got the Olympics in two years time. That will be special!

Finally we can put to bed the comparisons between Maradona and Messi. Like Platini once said when asked about Maradona and Zidane comparisons .."what Zidane does with a ball Maradona can do with and orange"
