      Adios Spain!

They've got it all wrong playing Costa, should have been David Villa.

Costa has made a mare of that effort, almost as bad as Casillas' attempt at goalkeeeping.

Diego Costa - looks like a rapist, plays like a clown.

The more I see him the more I think 'overrated cack'.

So do I, but I think it also has to be accepted this Spain team isn't suited to his style at all, so it's difficult to judge him on this. Chelsea will play much more to his strengths. Don't understand why Spain are playing him to be honest, he is such a square peg.

Sergio Busquets oh dear. Why does Ramos take free kicks as if he's some kind of specialist?

Spain just don't press the ball at all, in their best years they were hounding the opposition and winning it back high up the pitch. Mad to think this squad is going home if you look at the names they have, don't know if it's lack of desire, quality or something tactical but something is very wrong with them.

You look at some of the names on the bench and think that the manager could have been a bit more adventurous. Del Bosque has taken the loyalty factor a bit too far this time it seems. Putting Torres on for two matches in a row is a bit of a piss take I think.

Agree. Murphy made a good point, they lack so much pace yet they leave Navas at home. Taking Torres ahead of Negredo? It just smacks of Del Bosque saying he's sticking with what he knows, they need to evolve and build around the likes of De Gea, Koke, Isco etc and that's just a few names I know without being a huge follower of Spanish football, I'm sure there's more young players out there for them.

Will be interesting to see where they go from here, I'd say Del Bosque probably has to leave after this despite everything he's done.

I just found out a few days ago that he signed a contract extension back in the autumn taking him up to 2016 but I would agree; things just come to their natural end and he's made some very ordinary selections this tournament. I don't know if he'll go because I doubt the Spanish FA have even considered a future replacement. But if he does go the question would be who?

End of an era too many old legs and maybe even drive for players who have done it all before. Major overhaul needed.

Hats off to Australia, they really brought it to us! I knew it was always going to be a tough game for us, we hadn't won yet in the 3 previous games against them. But starting with the 5-3-2 and giving Australia the initiative was a really bad call. Autralia showed so much heart, we were awful that first half. I think switching to 4-3-3 with Depay kind of changed the game for us in the 2nd half. Unlucky penalty, but we continued to be vulnerable at the back. Very happy we got away with the win there nonetheless, such a narrow victory. Onto the next round!

And then Chile-Spain, oh my! Chile is such a fun team to watch! One of my favourite teams!

:D I've always liked the Spanish team, but the Chilean fans are too amazing, it was impossible to cheer against them.

Chile were fantastic. A guy I work with was saying don't sleep on them as a dark horse, and through 2 games, they've looked the best side in terms of performance.

As for Spain, they got burned by conservatism, basically. This isn't the demise of Spanish football, but it is of this team and del Bosque as NT boss I think. There's A LOT of great young talent in Spain that should have been given a chance this World Cup but weren't. Playing three holding midfielders worked before, but every single one of them is older now, and so it Iniesta, etc. One of the all-time great teams that simply aged.
