Well he was open to the idea of becoming Harry's assistant at Euro 2012 had Redknapp been offered the job.

He was mate but he wasn't at Liverpool then  ;)

Cant see this to be honest...

As many have said the FA are a bunch of total idiots - Roy will stay for the Euro's regardless of his performance in this WC. We will lose all 3 games, he will stay in charge for the next tournament as he has played 'youngsters' like Sterling, Wilkshire and OxladeC - so he is infact progressive. Amazing, we saw this time at Liverpool summed up in 2 hours yesterday - whilst losing it was the best we have played and we should be positive. The guy is well below par - the quality we had yesterday should have resulted in at least a point.

Also, I don't think BR would go to the national job - however being Irish I think many would let this go as he is going to be a top manager...

Th FA know their audience. If you get a foreigner in you can blame it on the foreigner. Then you get Roy Hodgson and blame it on Roy Hodgson i.e. the English. Whatever happens you lower expectations and keep blaming someone else. Meanwhile they rake it in at FA HQ and don't have to spend money on developing the grassroots coaching, managing and playing staff of England. If they did that then someone would point the figure at the FA and start agitating and they would lose their comfy jobs. The rich folks who manage football in  England probably aren't interested in football except for managing the influence it has on the masses. Yes I am paranoid.

Thank f**k for that, I can stop worrying now.
Nice one Brian and Ian put my mind at rest.

      they closely considered M O'Neil

BR would never walk away from us to manage England or any other national team, its an old mans game int management.

There are exceptions to that thought......Hughes, Speed, Klinsmann & Low spring to mind.

The FA will always appoint the wrong person, the 'old boys network' still lives strong within them. The only time they've got it right in 'recent' history was with Venables.

Mark my words, in less than a few years time the England manager will be a woman, and with the fa probably be a lesbian from an ethnic minority
