Best Goal of World Cup (so far)
      Jun 16, 2014 06:37:04 am
Okay, I haven't seen all the goals but the three best I've seen so far are these:

Rvp super goal against spain. 2014 fifa world cup Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless handheld...

Messi Amazing Goal - Argentina vs Bosnia 2-0 - World Cup 2014

GOAL ~ Italy vs England 1:2 ~ World Cup 2014

      What are yours?

Perhaps as the tournament comes to an end we can have a poll to vote for the best goal in the World Cup.

      Messi's goal wasn't anything special.

RvP's goal I've never seen anything like.

      Can't argue with this.

Messi's was "amazing" because he plays for Barca, and Argentina.

RvP's was superb. The Cross, the assessment, and the implementation of that header was just excellent.

Messi's goal was a great goal.  Fair enough - it may not be the best goal (agree about RVP) but it was 'something' special.  Move started on the half way line and he didn't even need to look up at the goal.

If Suarez scored it you would be saying it was a fine goal.

      Very true.

However, RVP's goal is my favorite so far. It was a brilliant deep cross and a kind of finish I've never seen before. Such class.

I have to agree with you guys, RVP's goal was amazing. Historic goal for my country, probably on par with Bergkamp's goal against Argentina in 1998. Although Van Bronckhorst's goal against Uruguay last World Cup was great too.

Everybody is still buzzing about the game here.

As a team goal I loved the devastating simplicity of England's equaliser but in terms of iconic goals that RVP header is already right up there.

Agreed about the RvP goal, best of the tournament so far, and it will take some goal to better it.

Messi's goal is (I think) softened a bit by the fact we mostly expect him to score special goals as a matter of course.

The Sturridge goal was a cracker, but it was the turn, acceleration and pass from Sterling that stood out for me, rather than rooneys cross. A great run to the back post by Sturridge as well.

It's going to take something special to beat the RVP header. The ball in is beautiful, the header is incredible.

Not at all the best goal but I really liked Honda's touch and finish.

RvP's goal all day for me. That was a sick header. Hate the c**t like any of us on here, but the man can FINISH.

Messi's was a great goal too. The run, explosion of pace and finish were excellent.

These weren't by any means outstanding goals, but I liked Dempsey's and Ayew's goals last night. That little touch by Dempsey passed the defender was spot on, plus perfect placement at the far post. Ayew's was awesome team play, not to mention he found the exact pocket of space needed between the US backline and midfield to get off a great strike. Honda's the other night was similarly good.

      Awesome clip.

That has to be the best goal so far. Quality.

Liked the Ghana goal against USA, Sturridge's was a nice team goal, and the Ivory Coast goals were great because of the crosses. Not too many stunning goals but the quality in the team effort for most of the goals has been great to watch.

Sadly I don't think so.  The greatest goals/saves that are remembered usually define moments.  If Australia had won - gone on to qualify - perhaps.

For him personally it's nice to end his World Cup career having put that one in.

Cahill's goal was certainly a cracker and is up there so far as goal of the tournament for me, torn between that and the Dutch header.

But noway does Cahill's goals top Van Basten's, that was simply one of the best volleys of all time, I can't think of many better right now but Cahill's doesn't come near that for me.

Probably the goal of the tournament for me is Cahills closely followed by the Dutch header. If cahills goal had been scored by messi or Ronaldo it'd already have the title but as has been said, it wasn't a game changer and the player/team aren't high profile enough. History generally remembers the history makers and not the bit players. You never know though, these be strange times.

No it won't, not even the best goal of this tournament, still got some way to go to still beat the best world cup goal of all time which is still Carlos Alberto for Brazil v Italy in 1970.

      Exactly right.

Great goal from the Aussie, but Van Basten's is from a more difficult angle.

Plus he didn't just blast it through the keeper, he looks up, picks his spot, and actually has to lob him. Sheer brilliance.

I know its  a very big IF, but if Raheem's one vs Italy that hit the side netting had gone in, I'm pretty sure that one would've won it.

Messi's goal was v good. Suarez's 1st was too. Also Robin Van Horseface and a few others I can't currently recall.

Got to be Rodriguez, I like the coolness and skill. Cahill's goal was amazing too so I can understand some liking that more.

I was on here the other day talking about the best goal and I didn't realise I'd missed his volley, I was goin' on about his other one were he dribbled and chipped it over the goalie, that was my top goal but this other one is my new fave goal without a doubt, what a talent!

      Rodriguez, Cahill or Jones's.
All brilliant pieces of skill and came at the right times to create some magical games.

Jones's goal is not even on the same level as Rodriguez's or Cahill's.

Personal opinion is Rodriguez's goal is the goal of the tournament.

      Disagree.
Jones was able to hit it with such power and still get some curve on it to hammer it into the corner.
Thought it was a magnificent strike.
