Broke the bank for the German pair of Mertesacker and Hummels myself. Only got one South American defender and that's Isla from Chile.

Got Hummels in too. Kept Marcos Rojo, cheap and scored loads of points for me the first 3 games. Besides that I bought a bunch of cheap Greek and Costa Rican players. I figured as they're playing each other, one of the teams is likely going to do well, and I'll just substitute the other out after the game.

Good first half, Brazil the best team so far, a silly mistake cost us badly. Neymar is a brilliant player but having to do too much work on his own. Fred has been awful this World Cup and it's painful to think that his substitute is Jô. No movement from him at all.

I've been very impressed with Rojo in this competition so far (not fantasy, I mean real football ). I knew very little of him but he seems to be an interesting player.

Yeah, I didn't know him at all when I picked him for the fantasy game. I just figured out he was a starter for Argentina, and he was cheap.

But same for me, he's really impressed me. Supposed to be more of a CB, but he has pace on him too, looks very good at LB, good on the ball too.

What's with the Mick Jagger banners being brandished about by the Brazilian fans?

Just get the feeling that a single rush of blood to the head will cost things here.

Didn't see the 2 penalties, probably because I was having dinner and was distracted. But the handball, I think it touched his upperarm and shoulder at the same time, I don't know if that counts as a handball or not, the Dutch commentator thought it did, I reckon it could have been either way.

I think all 3 incidents are debatable, but it really could have gone either way, but I know a lot of people won't be happy.
Personally I think both penalties should have been given, but I'm unsure about the handball.

Brazil really feeling the pressure now. Oscar is nowhere to be seen and Chile are keeping Neymar out of the game as best as they can (which meant a lot of fouls early in the game).

I hate how deep we are defending right now, no pressure in their defenders, which is the complete opposite of what they do. David Luiz keeps hoofing the ball and Jô is just hopeless...

I forgot about extra time. Really hope we don't run into that against Mexico, 90 minutes will be long enough in that heat. Imagine if Italy-England would have had an extra 30 minutes, people would have died!

No clue either. Favourites have to be Brazil still due to home advantage? I would back them on penalties. Exhausting to watch. Great game!

Rancid. Horrid that Chile are out but in truth it would have been horrid for either side to go out at this stage. But someone has to go.
