Neymar supposed to have fractured third vertebrae.

interesting, a little love bite and you become a world class thug but breaking someone's back with your knee 3 foot of the ground is ok. Feel for the lad he will never get this chance again.

That game and the Neymar incident in particular, for me summed up the quality of the refereeing in this tournament, which has been quite awful I think.  I hope that the tournament isn't decided by a bad decision (if it hasn't been already).

It's really sad what happened to Neymar.
However... Brazil's style of football is embarrassing; dirty buggers. Most fouls and hacking in one game I can remember.
I was all for Brazil before this WC but F**k that, I'm not supporting a team that hacks at the opposition like a gang of thugs.

Zuniga should never have finished the game. He could have been sent off for a foul on Hulk even before that Neymar incident. In the end, he never saw even a yellow card.

Got a good feeling about the Argentina Belgium game tonight, hoping that Belgium thrash them because Argentina have been so poor to watch this tournament, but think this could be the game of the world cup. Just a sneaky feeling (which will likely be proven wrong)

Suarez' biting incident shows the contrast between a serious incident when you consider that along with Zuniga breaking a players back. No doubt they'd be absolute outrage if Suarez done that.

That's what Zuniga did to Hulk before he broke Neymar's back.

That's "part of the game" I guess.

If reports are true, we're playing a 5-3-2 again tonight, but with Depay as left wingback and Kuijt as right wingback. Blind taking De Jong's place. Should produce better football, that or a very shakey defense.

De Jong is a horrible player, so him out can only be a good thing for football

Messi with an absolutely sublime pass there, deserved better than what DiMaria could offer by way of a finish.

Had Juan Zuniga kneed Brazil’s Neymar 2cm higher in the back, he could have paralyzed him
Juan Zuniga’s brutal knee on Neymar’s back fractured the Brazilian’s vertebrae, and ended his World Cup in one felled swoop.

And with Neymar’s X-Ray inevitably making its way to the Internet, the image reveals the gravity of the injury – and just how close he was from much, much worse.

Be they amateur chiropractors, journos, or medical students, the theory has taken hold that had Juan Zuniga implanted his knee a mere 2 inches higher on Neymar’s back, he could have…

      PARALYZED HIM.

I.e., left him wheelchair-bound for the rest of his days. Now there’s a chilling thought, which gives pause for reflection on all the talk of ‘man’s game, fouls happen’, etc.

I am sure Luis would have had a life ban for that assault on a player

Aye, at least make his way on the bench :D

Origi been a bit disappointing in this game but he's absolutely 0 support, Fellaini is a complete donkey and I'm amazed he's played as much as he has for Belgium at this competition.

I'm amazed Fellaini gets away with as much as he does.
We see it in the prem every week, elbows flying everywhere, horrible tackles, he actually looks like he goes out to deliberately hurt players, and yet he constantly gets away with it.

He's a joke, will be interesting to see how Van Gaal deals with him, I suspect he wont find many minutes next season.

Higuain had a really good game for the Argies, one of the best I've seen him play in a long time.

I have a feeling that he'll be shown the door, but oddly enough, I hope he stays where he is

Agree about Higuain, he had an excellent game.

On balance, the better team won.

With the wage he will be on and the outlay I think they will struggle to move him on
