I was just thinking (dreaming about) the same thing. I think he'd be a lot more than a glamour signing though. He could add real quality and experience to our side and it would make a massive statement of intent. I don't know how anyone can even contemplate going for Bony, Remy or Jay Rodriguez over this guy.

He is a different class completely to those players. It's a shame we didn't get to see him perform at the WC but then again if he tore it up his price would have rocketed another £20 mill.

Wish it were true but I just don't see it happening TBH.

With the purchase of Markovic our transfer dealings have taken the club spend to approximately £60M so far - supposedly the original budget set out for Brendans plans.

That means unless players are sold to raise funds the only money available to us now are the proceeds from the Suarez sale. £30M of that has presumably been set aside for Lovren (20M) & Origi (10M). A LB has has still yet to be addressed so that's potentially another £18M (Moreno).

Wishful and wistful thinking is all very well but being realistic Lallana will be our most extravagant signing this summer.

I'd love Marco Reus here. I'd be totally over the moon. But I don't think this will happen. I wish we would have made a play for him when he was still at Gladbach.

He would be a dream signing - such a great player. Can't see it happening but would love to be surprised.

If we are really looking to replace Luis then after Messi and Ronaldo, Reus is the player that comes closest in my opinion.

That isn't the point.  Players need to have 2 things in order to transfer clubs:

      1.  Availability
      2.  Willingness to move

Last summer, Luis was willing to move to Arsenal but our owners said he wasn't available.
This summer, Sanchez was available, but was unwilling to move to LFC (for whatever reason)

While Reus reportedly has a relatively reasonable buyout clause in his contract, he seems highly unlikely to move to another club unless the likes of Madrid or Barca come calling.  Sadly, we have no chance....

Plus Dortmund lost their #10 last year and #9 this year. And their attacking options (Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan, Adrian Ramos, Immobile, Ji Dong-won) are fairly new additions. No way they are letting Reus go THIS YEAR and screw their front line

      :)

If anyone has the slightest shred of evidence that any of those players wanted to or want to come here, or even that we bid for them (Sanchez apart) by all means post it, otherwise it is indeed whining.

The article is from the Express who are generally okay when it comes to reliability.

In addition, it is not a gossip or rumour page. That is why it's staying open. Nobody's forcing you to view this thread.

Now all I can picture is Jon Snow struggling to down a drink in Mance Rayder's tent.
