You know, if I remember correctly, we had a closed door friendly last summer, I think it was against Tranmere or something.  I know we had one right when Suarez came back from his bite ban to get him some actual competitive action.

Considering how Lovren/Moreno/Manquillo will only get one game (Dortmund) as is, I wouldn't be surprised if we scheduled another closed door game before Dortmund, just to bed the new lads in a bit.

Definitely a possibility Fed. I heard that Rodgers was pissed off with Lovren for not sorting his visa in time, things like that can't be left to chance though and the responsibility is not his alone.

A back 5 can't just suddenly come together, the organisation required needs drilling into them much more than any other collective area of the pitch. Granted it will sometimes just click but expecting that to happen would be preparing to fail.

We can simply do attack vs defence drills though to sort most of it, but another friendly would be a good idea.

When is Ibe going to get first team play? What I saw in the US is a very, very good player who needs to polish some edges. He has great control, which is good, but he will try and get past 3 defenders instead of a give and go, which is just due to trying to impress and make the 1st team.  Which is what Sterling did at first and Rodgers coached it out of him. Now Sterling is a great player who makes plays. He is a good passer and I think Ibe would benefit with first team play.

That⬆. Why people are still starting Johnson, I dont know. Now with Moreno and Manquillo,  I dont see him starting.

There are so many combinations we could use I've quickly put three together that could be used in League, FA Cup, and league cup games , I've left out CL games until the window closes, I've a feeling BR will still add one or two more.....

Think Flanno is first choice in that position for now but hope Manquillo proves to be a master stroke. On paper looks a perfect signing.

Really can't recall there ever being so many different first team choices between people. Makes for interesting reading. Testament to the squad that we actually have options now.

I could be wrong, i don't claim no inside sources or anything, my friend told me people are saying that in an training session, that is the back four he had training together, we will see, because i strongly feel whoever starts in the Dortmund game will start the Southampton game.

I personally hope its a back four of Manquillo Lovren Sakho Flanagan.

It's because there's been an open training session at Anfield today and Brendan paired them up as Skrtel/Lovren and Toure/Sakho. 

I doubt very much that Brendan knows his preferred pairing yet and until he's got Moreno in we won't be seeing his vision for our defense as we don't have the personnel to play it.

Lovren has only just started training with the lads so I can't see Brendan being able to assess his fitness or his abilities just yet.

Nobody does know for certain, except Brendan himself. However it's not a difficult one to see why. It's also daft to assume that because Skrtel and Lovren played together in today's training session, means that Rodgers prefers Skrtel over Sakho.

It could very well be that he prefers Lovren over Sakho. Lovren, for most of his Southampton days, played on the left side of the centre halves. The same position Sakho will play for us. So if Skrtel/Lovren is the is the choice, it'll probably be with Lovren on the left as that is where Brendan, I imagine, would rather use him.

And there's been plenty of stats flying round about how poor Skrtel/Sakho were at the back together last year yet it's still widely considered that Skrtel has been our best defender for much of the last 12 months.

Of course I could be talking F***ing bollocks (there is a first for everything after all )
