                               Mignolet

                      Skrtel             Lovren

      Manquillo             Gerrard            Moreno

                      Hendo              Can

                               Coutinho

                       Sterling         Sturridge

Tasty, but if Markovic is healthy I would try and shoehorn him in there somehow.

Almost have to be Can I think, maybe save him for the teams that will attack us more, he can help defensively?

I guess it's good to have options for a change.

      My team:

                            Mignolet

      Manquillo   Lovren     Skrtel      Moreno

                     Gerrard   Henderson*

      Lallana           Coutinho         Sterling

                            Sturridge

*Can unfortunate to miss out. However I think Henderson deserves to be first choice over Can until Can can show he can play as he did in pre season in the PL. Especially as we have quite a few new faces in the team, it would be nice to keep the solidarity of the team with Henderson.

I think Lallana will be first choice this season. I expect Rodgers to play him as often as Coutinho and Sterling.

      Mignolet

      Manquillo   Lovren  Sakho  Moreno

      Gerrard

      Henderson  Can

      Sterling  Sturridge  Coutinho

Think Markovic is back so I'd personally go with

                           Mig
      Manquillo  Lovren   Sakho  Moreno
                        Gerrard
                Henderson Coutinho
        Sterling                        Markovic
                        Sturridge

The bench is such a massive upgrade for us (bar one position) to potentially have:

      Subs:
      Jones
Enrique (Moreno can also play winger if needed so more flexibility/options)
      Skrtel
      Can
      Lallana
      Allen
      Borini

It is an enormous upgrade this Summer of where we were in terms of squad strength in depth just get that striker and there will be few complaints from anywhere, but it can't be stressed enough just how crucial that one signing is.

I agree, think Hendo has had a magnificent pre-season and deserves his place in the starting line up.

I'm guessing you on a wind up but I'll bite, Flanagan is injured, there is no way Lucas should be near the first 11 let alone taking SG place, Markavic is only just coming back from a knock so doubt he will start

Sorry, I know it's not quite "as it stands" but I didn't know where else to put this.

            Mignolet
           Manquillo Lovren Sakho Moreno
               Gerrard
                 Henderson Coutinho
              Sterling                  Lallana
                 Sturridge

Think this is how we will set up when all are fully fit. That gives us options on the bench of: Jones, Enrique, Skrtel, Can, Allen, Markovic, Lambert. That's not including Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Assaidi and Borini, 2 or 3 of which will most likely be sold. Then we have youngsters like Ibe, Suso and Flanagan that can all challenge to get in to the squad. Origi to come back next year.

If that goes through as expected, and we even earmark £30m for a new striker (ambitious I know), we would have only spent £10-15 mil net.

I am talking about from the squad we have .. Not right now. Lucas is a DM Stevie is not. Stevie's instincts are to go and leave space. Lucas is better in that role. As for the
      rest.

Flanagan is a local and good enough. He and the other 3 defenders will form a tough, hardworking unit. Lucas is clever, he can work behind Henderson's energy and coutinho can pull the strings. I think we break with pace and so markovic is great in this aspect. Sterling and Sturridge are the best goal scorers we have. So yes I am serious and entitled to my opinion.

      Right now:
                              Mignolet

                  Skrtel     Gerrard     Lovren

      Manquillo                                        Moreno

                      Hendo              Can

                               Coutinho

                       Sterling         Sturridge

Lallana, Markovic, Enrique and Sakho all capable to challenge the player in their respective positions.

Wow I'll tell you what we are putting some squad of talented youngsters together. That strong of a foundation that If we make champions league again this season I can't see where our squad ddvelopment could go other than adding those one or two World class talents on top of the world class talent I truly believe we already have emerging. I would love to see us put a few of the CL 'big boys' to the sword this year and raise a few eyebrows

Surely big Skrtel has to keep his spot after having his best ever season in a liverpool shirt?

Lovren and Skittles for me all day.

I like Sakho, he'll just have to wait until one of them slips up.

I'd like to ask a question, this thread seems as good a place as any to do it, without it derailing the threads intent...
Do you reckon we have the fastest or most pacey team in the league now?
(the question is aimed at anyone btw)

Could go on for pages there are so many options now, certainly in defense and midfield - BR will really be able to vary his starting XI, way more than last year.

With Lovren, hopefully we have a new dominant CB, and with the Spanish lads, competition and options at FB (which was REALLY needed).

In midfield, strength in depth. Hopefully Lallana and Markovic will settle quickly, and show form - FAR better players than Moses and Alberto. Sterling and Coutinho look like they will improve on last year, which is pretty mouthwatering. One option I think could be solid would be Can (who looks promising so far)/SG/Hendo across the middle might free up Hendo a bit to make runs into the box, and the guy can score - would love to see him do well.

Up front, still think we need a striker. The frustration around that has slightly overshadowed what looks like good business by BR in the window.

And in BR we have an excellent manager who knows how to progress guys with potential, bring them on, get the best out of them. And in general, he has exceeded expectations - combined with the signings we've made, makes me think we can do better than many pundits expect.

If Sturridge is out for Villa which is highly possible I'd go with this.

                                       Migs

      Manquillo     Lovren       Sakho      Moreno

                                      Gerrard
               Henderson                      Lallana

                    Sterling                     Markovic
