Liverpool FC's Brian Hall's funeral took place today
The funeral of Liverpool FC's Brian Hall took place at St Lawrence's Church in Longridge, Lancashire, today.

Fellow footballers turned out to pay tribute to the 68-year-old who sadly lost his battle against leukaemia last week.

On hearing of Hall's passing ex-Liverpool ECHO journalist Arthur Johnson said: “I'd known Brian had been ill for a while, but I was still devastated to hear the news,”

“We were very, very close mates. We'd done a lot together, of which the most memorable was going to Australia.

“Everyone who had any dealings with Brian said the same thing. He was a thoroughly nice man.

“I never heard anybody say a bad word about him. And he was such a great ambassador for the club, especially when dealing with the community.

“He loved Liverpool. And we all loved him.”

Hall passed away last Thursday evening after a long battle against leukaemia, which he was first diagnosed suffering several years ago.

He passed away at home with wife Mary and children Andy, Jane and Liz beside him.

Brian Hall played 224 games for the Reds between 1969-76 and scored 21 goals, winning two League Championships, an FA Cup and two UEFA Cup winners’ medals.

Brian later returned to Liverpool to head the club’s public relations department in 1991 before retiring 20 years later.

      RIP
