I just think Manquillo looks so good because of how poor Johnson was down the right.

He has looked better out on the left Johnson but for me still been poor.

Agreed, Johnson was solid for the first 10 minutes but he's almost trying to do too much, keeping hold of the ball for far too long and subsequently losing it.

I think Sterling must be made of granite! Tough and strong little bugger!

Lovren really trying to push the line up there, Skrtel ignoring it for now. If he'd listened would have been an easy offside.

I'd be more comfortable seeing Sakho partner Lovren tbh. But Lovren has been immense so far.

From the few minutes ive seen it already looks like we are making better use of the pitch due to Lovren. Manquillo looks good.

Jesus Sturridge has got a good touch on him today.

Manquillo's cross field passing/crossing has been something to behold, think he's hit 4 and 3 have landed right at their man and the other gave him a good 50/50 in the box, great stuff young man.

Wow what a half. Friendly or not we looked like a well oiled tight unit. Loved the way everyone knew their job. Sterling supporting Johnson, Hendo supporting Javier, Gerrard tooking in nicely and Emre doing all the centre hard defending work. Excellent. Countinho and Lovren have been immense. Sturridge and Hendo were brilliant too. Everyone playing great even Johnson.

Looking tight at the back - Lovren looks to be a steal at 20m. Wow! Get the F**k in!

Delighted with that half. Looking much sharper and absolutely loved the introduction of both those signings.

Positives: Coutinho, Gerrard, Manquillo, Lovren, Hendo, Sterling (but there's much more in the locker)

Only negatives I'd pick out is as the pace has picked up Can looks a little reactive than proactive in his play, needs to learn to play on that front foot a bit more as he's been caught on his heels a few times. Glen, play breaking down with him way too much as usual and Sterling/Hendo doing most of his defensive work for him.

Despite some good play from Coutinho, he hasn't seen much of the ball, he needs to be more involved.

I really think we have our set pieces sussed for defending and attacking. We look really strong! Full back areas look great too.

Lovren is defo our LB going forward. That leaves Skrtel to partner him cause I dont think Sakho could play RB comfortably. Im Happy though.

Manquillo looks handy, Lovren looks beastly, Coutinho is a god and Sturridge is deadly.

Can injured? He looks like he's running with a limp.

Johnson is so far off the rest of our defence. When the other three are compact, he is dangling off 10 yards from where he should be. When he should push wide, he stays narrow and when he should stay narrow he's man marking someone off the ball leaving a hole in defence.

Seriously though, get Coutinho on a 10 year contract with a £100m release clause.
