Not needed. We've had so many new arrivals that I think it would be worth keeping guys like Lucas in/around the team even if slightly better players could be brought in. Khedira, for me, would be another story. Would love him here.

What about all the hundreds of players that have been sent off in the past? What he did was shocking but we've experienced worse at our club mate. In the heat of the moment players and people outside of football do incredibly stupid and aggressive things.

Don't get me wrong, that wouldn't be the sole reason why I am not keen. I just don't rate him that highly and I think he is lazy. I'll admit it though, I've not seen an awful lot of him over past year or two.

I don't think many has, he rarely gets game time and when he does, they are usually coming off the bench!

      For me, Lucas > Song.

I remember a Van Persie goal after a superb Song pass (Reina poor effort included)

If he can still pull of those kind of passes, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Let's hope we are!!!  What an addition he'd be, for no fee at all.

I'd take him on a free loan but he's a bit overrated IMO. Fantastic passer of the ball but not good defensively at all.

As a free addition, i think he would be a great addition.
If he performs to his best then he would have a big role at our club if he came.

Tbf I can't remember the last time we were in for a player without the entire press knowing about it days in advance.

Excellent player in my view. We´ve long talked about what we´d do if Gerrard wasn´t available (well those that don´t think Lucas is an adequate stand in/replacement have anyway) and this fella is the one. If he really is available on a free, get him.

Would be a nice little addition though! A definite upgrade on Lucas, knows the EPL, plays in a similar system at Barca. What's not to like.

I imagine there will be some competition for his signature though.

doesn't it mean that most loans involve the receiving club paying for the priviledge (ie - £20M Falcao for a year) - take it Barcelona will wave a fee if we cover his wages

I remember when Arsenal were on form with him and Fabregas in the side. Song would near enough always find him or RVP with a pin point pass, he has more in his game then just defensive play.

Not sure how much of that is left after Barca but for me would be worth a punt if on a free.

Metro today saying we are still in for him but want him on loan and Barca want a permanent deal.

Either way I'd take him here, think he could add something.

yeah usually clubs have to pay wages, or part of the wages, there are many complications in a transfer anyway, not just transferring £10,000,000 into a bank account..

a loan for Song, considering we're probably loaning Lucas out, would be good business but I'd rather we buy him to be honest, if Napoli don't buy Lucas it only means we finally might have a few decent midfielders next year - Gerrard wont be any younger in 12 months time, either.

Song in would be another shrewd piece of business and add some solidity to our midfield. Hope this deal goes through.

Always rated him at Arsenal thought he was very much a unsung hero. His career has stumbled since he made the move to Barca', but he won't be the first player to make a move to a bigger club and it not pay off. I must admit to not seeing a great deal of him since he moved away but the bits I have it's been the odd half hour here and there.

I was disappointed with his World Cup performance but Cameroon are a poor international side, his indiscretion can't be overlooked as for me it was premeditated. Was it bore out of frustration, possibly. Would he add much need steel to our midfield, a definite yes.

Pre World Cup I identified him as someone who was one available, and two plays a position we need to strengthen. I honestly wouldn't entertain a loan and instead look for a permanent deal before the deadline.

Apparently Spurs are now the front-runners (despite having Capoue, Dembele and Sandro) and Fat Sam wants him as well (despite having the world-class Diame)
