Getting the only weak spot in the now mythical Barcelona of 5 years ago sounds like another facepalm to me.There are loads of good keepers in the PL and even in the Championship that we could get before recruiting a keeper that is definately past his never-so-great prime.I said it for years we should have gotten Al-Habsi or Wayne Hennessey.Either of them would be excellent as 2nd choice and could even challenge Simon.Anyhow,England is littered with quality stoppers,we should look there before settling for Valdez just because he´s free.I´m no Barcelona fan but I can easily recall various notorious blunders of his that embarrased the rest of the truly solid team.Never good enough for them, sure as hell not good enough for us now, even if he is better than Jones (duh).

You do know he's training with United, right?
      He's not coming here.

Shows what a joke we are in the market that were losing out to a club who have a better keeper then Valdes. We should have had him signed 3 months ago

Don't worry I'm sure our amazing transfer committee have already lined up a top class keeper.

I disagree mate. Only because I think IF we're actually going to get a new keeper, at least make it top class and not a risk. Valdes as #1 just screams 'risk' to me.

He's free and better then the 2 current options. How much will a good keeper cost us with clubs knowing we need one? Rather get a good keeper for free and spend every penny we have on some defenders to protects him

United showing real intent about their determination to get back in to the Champions League and stay there. Speaks volumes of our intent that we even pass up a free agent that would add to us. The gulf between us and the top four has nothing to do with money, it's ambition and we have none.

Valdez  is off to the scum, and maybe de gea is of to RM,( According to some reports)

I think a experienced  and good Goalkeeper is a must  and I think that will make our defence a bit more confident when defending, something which simon is not doing at the moment

Why do people say this every transfer window?! Wish we got a £1 for every time it is said until the transfer window closes.

No deal has been concluded so therefore the topic won't be locked until that changes and whether he has "agreed" to or not, until it's official things can change, look at Willian 99% heading to Spurs but then went to Chelsea at the last minute.

Don't know why he would even go to the Mancs though, bunch of cu*ts and he has missed a year of football so why go somewhere to just warm the bench. Idiot.

Doesnt help Manc fans with the rumours De Gea is off to Real. Could make sense. Valdes has six months to get back in to the full flow of the game and by then he will take over De Gea.

      I hope so anyway.

Christ...we can't even attract a player who WOULD have walked into a guaranteed 1st choice spot. He'd rather warm a bench ???. No surprise he's fu*ked-off to the scum then! Who the hell would want to come to a club that is in total disarray?

Playing alongside Gerrard was probably the only decent incentive we had in attracting the "higher" caliber players, because apart from playing in front of the best fans - we've sweet FA else to offer.

Congratulations Brendan, FSG et al... you've 'broken' LFC and no amount of any of their superfluous, condescending, patronising band-aiding bullshit is going to fix us....any time soon.

      Obscurity, here we come :f_tongueincheek:

I see your point mate. I just think we'll end up having to splash the cash on a keeper within 2 years again if we get Victor in now, I'd rather pay now for the long term solution, something Mignolet never looked like being, but Pepe certainly did.

I hope it causes disarray in the ranks over there, the doughnut thief has been their best player this season by a F***ing mile, if it wasn't for him they'd be mid table at best.
