Fernandez just said he was not confident Borini deal will happen, then mentioned player and agent expectations

Shouting "you'll never walk alone, lads!" was absolutely brilliant! Hahahaha :D

If we need CB cover I imagine both Can and Lucas could do a good job if needed

      Lucas.... at CB.

      ok.

As emergency cover, yeah, why not? I'd put Can in there before him but. Lucas is solid defensively, just lacks some height.

      Ha ha!

Kind of hoping that nothing happens tonight. Remember the time when Bobby Zamora was the only player to move on deadline day in January 2012 to QPR and when it hit 11pm Sky Sports News, with their usual degree of over hype, had a massive picture of Zamora next to a picture of Big Ben and fireworks exploding. Don't think they envisaged it would have been that desperate earlier on in the day.

      :D sorry mate.

In that case i am for it as you can tell as id like Suso to get first hand pl experience. Same with Coates it will be good to see, however not sure how beneficial because look at Borini in my eyes he had a beneficial loan spell but his still not wanted.

My post was unclear anyway :)

I reckon Borini loan could have been so much better if Sunderland hadn't insisted on playing him as a LM/CM for all save 8 games (He scored 4 and assisted 2 in those 8 for the stats geeks). I can't imagine they will play Coates so horribly out of position.

Also CBA to quote for other topics:

      - Can has played as a CB a fair amount for Leverkeusen. He could do a job there.

      - I don't think Borini is being greedy. I think he really wants to stay, so is saying that if he has to go, it would require a lot of money to make him move. Double-edged sword having a scouse wife  ;D It doesn't bother me in the slightest. His current wages are less than 50k, and I'd be happier with 4 strikers than 3. And F**k me, its not like his options are great. QPR or sunderland - both teams that you can be damn certain will be flirting with relegation.

      - Absolutely chuffed that Suso and Lucas are staying. Both will just be squad options, but they have the quality to fill that role, and Suso is essentially an academy product so I'm glad we are giving him a chance.

Lucas is great defensively, but I worry that he might forget where he is and do one of his tactical fouls in the box  :f_tongueincheek:

No strong rumors of another player coming in?

Strong transfer window but would be happy to see a backup keeper come in but if not oh well, we got the essential signings done and dusted already, which is the most important thing.

With United close to Sergio Romero I'd imagine we will sign Valdes when he proves his fitness (around October time I read).

We can sign Valdes whenever, so I'm guessing we aren't fussed to pay his wages for an extra month if we don't have to.

Imagine if we sold Assaidi for 3 mil £, Borini for 15 mil £ and Lucas for about 11-12 mil £ ... With those money we could have bought another good player, maybe a DM/CM

We aren't lacking for money - our net spend is still pretty low. I think we are happy with our options as they stand.
