      Liverpool 1-1 Everton: In-game & post-match "..."
      Sep 27, 2014 11:44:14 am

      Anfield today

      [/img]

Starting XI: Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Lallana, Markovic, Sterling, Balotelli
Subs: Jones, Enrique, Touré, Lucas, Suso, Coutinho, Lambert

Jordan Henderson and Lazar Markovic have been named in Liverpool's starting XI to face Everton in the 223rd Merseyside derby this afternoon as Brendan Rodgers opts for two changes to his Barclays Premier League line-up.

The former returns to action having missed the midweek League Cup tie with Middlesbrough due to a hip strain, while the latter gets his first taste of facing the Blues after featuring at Anfield on Tuesday, replacing Fabio Borini from the side that lost against West Ham United last weekend.

Rodgers has made one other alteration to the team that suffered defeat at Upton Park - Adam Lallana is reintroduced from the off, with fellow midfielder Lucas Leiva dropping to the substitutes' bench.

Philippe Coutinho is fit enough to be named in the 18-man squad after a groin complaint, while Suso is rewarded for his goal past Boro earlier in the week with a place in the manager's group.

Finally a proper balance to our team, thought Studge might make the bench so shame there.

Let's get the first goal FFS, we've been starting like a freight train with the brakes on full rather than the brakes off like last year, let's get the brakes off and roll all over these bitter sh*te.

Big performance from Gerrard expected, he must know he hasn't been good enough and please don't concede at a set piece, a clean sheet alone would be a blessing.

      COME ON!!

Hibbert starting at right back for Everton. Sterling will rip him apart.

Quite like the line up, not 100% on Markovic starting but I guess if he wants a game to impress in then it's this one.

      Everton's line up:

Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Jagielka, Stones, Barry, McCarthy, Besic, Mirallas, Naismith, Lukaku

Subs: Joel, Gibson, Eto'o, McGeady, Browning, Osman, Alcaraz.

We need to attack their defence early, there could be a quick goal to be had that's for sure.

2-1 victory to the red men.

Why should he have to play games to improve for that money he should be ready now

guess Coutinho is not 100%fit  yet, and BR don't retain Suso as a starter
Still a strong line up for me
Pity Sturridge did not make it at least to the bench

C'mom REDS- a great performance with a great win pls.

No more slow starts, we need to hit them early. Sterling should have a field day against Tony we're gunna riot' Hibbert!
My OH is a Blue and nearly chocked on his coffee when he saw Hibbert at right back.
He's not feeling too confident now!

Henderson is an brilliant example. Language and new envirnment, some people need time. It is exactly the same as a person who moved to another job.

      Get the F**k in Brendan!

That's the exact side I was talking about in the other thread.

Win, lose or draw I think the boss has got the right side out today.

understand that language etc but basic dribbling shooting and passing should be there and not shown much yet hopefully today though he will either sink or swim in this atmosphere

Baffled me too, I thought he was awful midweek with Suso offering more in ten minutes than our new signing managed in 70. Fingers crossed that was just a warmup and today he will show a bit more.

I can't imagine either team is filled with much confidence going Into this one but it is a great opportunity to kick start our season with a much needed win.

Gutted no Studge but no point in rushing him back as it's a long season. Lallana the key player for me today.

Get an early goal today lads and get the fans going.

That's our best midfield at the moment  (today's selection)
Markovic is no pushover, he gets stuck in and works hard, I want to see him in the team, that's why we bought him. He's got a lot of experience for a young guy.

      Can't wait.

Not convinced about that side there, especially if it's a midfield two.
