Liverpool 0-3 Real Madrid: In game and Post Match Disappointment
      Oct 22, 2014 06:26:37 pm

YNWA, Liverpool FC v Real Madrid 5 years ago
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew6SiJ367Ak#

Well done to LFC U19's who did Madrid over earlier today. Would take the same score tonight

Starting XI: Mignolet, Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Sterling, Balotelli, Coutinho

Subs: Jones, Toure, Manquillo, Can, Lallana, Markovic, Lambert

Brendan Rodgers has opted to make three changes to his Liverpool side for tonight's momentous Champions League clash against the reigning European champions Real Madrid at Anfield.

Philippe Coutinho, who was instrumental in securing a dramatic 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday, is back in the starting XI as he replaces Adam Lallana.

The manager also brings in Joe Allen and Alberto Moreno in place of summer signing Emre Can and Jose Enrique for the eagerly anticipated Group B clash against Carlo Ancelotti's side.

For Allen, the game will bring a first start since the Reds' 3-0 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on August 31, while Moreno, who played no part in the win over QPR, returns in the left-back berth.

Mario Balotelli leads the Liverpool line once again - and the Italian will be hoping to feed off Raheem Sterling and Coutinho, who take up advanced roles ahead of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool have beaten Madrid EVERY time they have met...

I really do hope that's not Coutinho lining up on the left wing.

Would much prefer it to be:

                       Mig
      Johnson Skrtel Lovren Moreno
                     Gerrard
            Henderson Allen
                     Coutinho
                Sterling Balotelli

Really don't think Balotelli should be starting, time for the lad to show why he was bought, if he can't be up for this game there really is no hope.

Johnson and Skrtel against Ronaldo is a recipe for disaster.

The player I think that might hurt us most tonight though is Modric, I do have an unhealthy obsession with the lad and I think Joe Allen might be the player that has to deal with him. Joe will have to be above his best game to deal with him and we might find it really hard to get out of our half for some periods.

Hendo/Sterling/Balo/Moreno need to be ready to absolutely charge if we get the chance on the counter, I think we can nick 1 or 2 if we're clinical like that. If we try to press their counter-attack is right up there with the best around.

Tough game, the game we've been wanting for so long, whatever happens I'm so F***ing glad to be back against teams like this, do us proud Redmen because as much as we might get battered if we do actually win it would do absolute wonders for some of these players.

      COME ON!

That's the team I was expecting. More of a familiar midfield. Mario better be keeping his head up and looking for the ball tonight.

I am with Carragher,Souness and Redknapp this game is not for Balotelli.
I hope he shows or the crowd will have him they want the lads to bleed for the team tonight.I just don't get it after the QPR game what must Lambert and Borini think.
      Que Balotelli hatrick

Thats the team I was expecting also bar balotelli. The atmosphere will be electric. Lets hope we get out of the blocks quickly ala last season and get straight into them !!

Sure Arbeloa will get a great reception. Really liked him as a player and he has never been replaced really. Hope Flanno will be that man once fit.

I agree mate. They will be thinking that no matter how little effort he puts in however poor he is that he is first choice till Sturridge is back. He is in the team now so he will have my backing again .... but he better put a shift in tonight.

Yes and back then we admired our opposition too.

I believe we can but Madrid are a F***ing quality team. That attack is superb.
