I don't have an "agenda" against Balotelli, I don't think he's been good enough for us and I'm ready to discuss it with anyone who disagrees.

I've actually presented some facts against this whole idea that his best role isn't as a lone striker but unsurprisingly haven't got a single reply to that post.

Not an agenda, but Balo needs to be dropped.

Exactly mate. I was getting accused all game of having an agenda against him. Which is funny since I advocated his signing and was foolishly excited about it. I just call it as it is. Balotelli cannot play on his own up front. And it remains to be seen whether he can score even with a strike partner. But either way he slows down our attack with his static movement. This I could forgive if he bagged a few goals. But all his shots are from poor angles directly at the keeper. This is a result of his poor movement. It's frustrating as hell watching him play for us.

      I agree.

Lambert should always start ahead of Balo, he showed creativity and better hold up play than Balotelli did the entire match. I wonder If Borini or Lallana would've made the difference if they played along side Lambert.

Only + to take away from this game is Coutinho and Lambert, other than that, there's nothing else positive.
I thought Lambert was pretty poor when he came on tbh. Didn't really offer much movement and kept giving the ball away under little pressure.

missed a fantastic chance to move up the table and get closer to City now after this weekends fixtures we will probably go backwards.
How could you not play Couthino it is mind-blowingly obvious that the lad is really getting back to his very very best.

      The positives are:

      1) The last half an hour we played so much better than we have the last few weeks.
      2) Maybe now Brendan will return to a 2 striker formation, which is far more effective for the players we have.
      3) We got a clean sheet.
      4) Emre Can and Gerrard looked good together in midfield.
      5) We still have time to fix things and get into the top four as our competitors are also struggling.

The negatives I will leave to all of you as that seems to be getting covered very well.

Different teams, different styles, your stats are useless. With the way we are playing now, he's no good as a lone striker. If that's how Brendan wants to play, Balo should sit. Only a blind man or one with a agenda would see how we played with two strikers today and continue to say that Balotelli is better suited to playing alone (with us).

He's no good as a lone striker, nor with a partner it seems. Keeps missing chances no matter how we play.
The stats show he has experience and has successfully played alone up top. To justify horrible decision making and poor finishing with tactical formation alone is ignoring how bad he's been. Couple of weeks ago someone said "a striker is just as good as his midfield", which is obviously bollocks. Same could be said the other way round, the midfield will only create chances for a striker with clever positioning and movement.

Has he been better with another striker? Yes, when we change our game to simply putting the ball on the box like a mid-table club. Any striker would look better that way, but how better has he been? Not that much, actually.

Interesting fact Barcelona cost £210 million exactly the amount Brendan has spent since he came here

I'm discussing with a friend whether we should start Balotelli, Lambert or Borini the next game. Then I look to my tv and I see Barcelona with Neymar, Messi and Suarez  :f_wah: By the way, I'm off to watch El Classico.

      this is the stupid reason

Sky Sports are unable to screen the first quarter of an hour of Barça's eagerly awaited clash away to Real Madrid because no British broadcaster is allowed to show live football between 2.45pm and 5.15pm. The rule is designed to protect attendances at British games with a 3pm kick-off

To me the players just seem short on confidence. Not sure if that's due to the team selection or the set up, or perhaps lack of playing time together. (new lads) but they certainly lack cohesion and forward penetration. Looks like the midfield don't really understand what the forwards are gonna do, so don't know haw and when to feed the ball through.
Coutinho mad a massive difference when he came on, as did Lambert. The latter due to us having two strikers on and giving the opposition something more to contend with.
Until then, the Hull defence must have thought we had played right into their hands. Gave them a relatively easy time.
The disappointing thing is, we have the options and personnel in the squad to make the difference, and we don't use it until 20 mins from the end of a match, week after week.
Is the manager trying to engineer his own departure ? has been offered a better job ? surely he can see what we see, yet he incredibly does nothing until it's too late ! F***ing mind boggling this. He seems an intelligent guy, but he continues to use every conceivable permutation of midfield players to accommodate Bollotelli up front on his own when it clearly isn't working.
Re watch the last 20 minutes Brendan, and F***ing take it on board you muppet!
