About Lambert, maybe he is just not putting enough in training? hard to believe, but the manager sees the players every day.

Brendan said he has been excellent in training.
We really could have had an academy player on the bench rather than Ricki

      Just a little bit confused.

Thought that Henderson and Coutinho were brought off against Madrid to give them a little rest ahead of this game.  Very surprised that it is those two that are dropped to the bench.

Nice to see Lovren, Mignolet and Balotelli rewarded for their excellent mid-week/season long performances. ;)

WTF does Lambert have to do to get a game....Hendo dropped.....looks risky.

We forget too soon, reaction of the fans the last time Lambert started. If I recalled, he was worse than Balotelli. We were all begging for him to be replaced in the second half.

Vs West Brom? I thought he was decent and showed more than what Balo has been showing all season :s

It's a shocking line up, truly gutted. Brendan has kept faith with a CB partnership who have looked terrible, has kept faith with a striker who has looked terrible and dropped our best player from the other night. The midfield looks wrong to me with Gerrard and Can both in the lineup. Hoping to be proved wrong but I will be surprised if we win the game today. The manager needs to wake up.

Don't see anything wrong with them two starting at all.

Can't believe BR has dropped his love child Johnson, must have been a full moon last night! Coutinho should be starting, been our best player over the last two games and our biggest goal threat.

Strange to see so many poor performers keep their places.

Anyway there is enough quality there to beat fat heads side.

Well West Ham just beat City so a Mario Hat trick with one or two others from midfield and we go fourth, 1 point off City in second...crisis? What crisis? ;)

was expecting to see Balo on the bench to be honest
but on the other hand what do I (and all of us) know what is happening in the dressing room
Hope this is the game where we start really playing the nice football we were used to a few months ago
hope too that Balo start playing for the squad too

I'm surprised seeing Gerrard in the lineup. Playing 3 games a week is a killer for any player, especially for a player in his 30s.

Not a brilliant team but we should win this. Come On You reds!

I wouldn't have played either of them. Would have played Sterling in the false 9 and got our most skillful players in and around him ie. Lallana, Coutinho and Henderson. Im expecting to see another pedestrian 1st half where we struggle to move them out of their banks of four and we caught out at a set piece, usual fare :-(

I think we need an early goal

      Interesting selection.
Balo up front again, I'd have started Lambert, but on 'form' BR must think Mario offers more - tight call between those two, neither playing great.
Good chance to see more of Can, which is good, Hendo dropping to bench - but decent option to come on later on if game still tight.
Surprised to see Allen, and not Coutinho - concern being we might not create enough going forward - but you never know how a game is going to go. Again though, another good option off the bench.
Don't think it'll be a walk in the park. Hull will look to expose the defense with straightforward balls in, set pieces etc. that have been undoing us. So good to see Jonno dropped. Where the hell is Sahko?!, presume injured. Imagine Hull will be direct, so back 5 need to be up for the contest - Migs coming and commanding in the air would be nice.
Need the 3 points, don't care how we get them. A goal for Balo might take some of the pressure of him - but need to see more from Mario or could be another difficult day.

Apparently hendo is carrying a knock/niggle so not in starting XI but not playing Coutinho who I thought was very good against RM is a strange decision, Balotelli neeeds to run himself into the ground today to justify his inclusion.
