Best metal album of all time
      Sep 20, 2014 02:10:16 pm
In your opinion what is the ultimate metal album ever released?

I have to be honest and say I have no real recent material but was a huge metal head back in the day. Metallica Slayer Megadeth ANTHRAX, Sepultura, Death, Iron maiden, Testament etc.

I have yet to hear a more complete album of absolute perfection as Master of Puppetts. From start to finish its awesome. Classics like Leper Messiah, Orion and the thing that should not be. No album fillers on this one!

Can any metal album trump it??

Funny you should post this, because I was listening to Killers by Iron Maiden last night which I haven't done for a while.
It's still one of my favourite albums.

I'm not that into Metal really, but a couple of favourites definitely fall into that category. Diary Of A Madman is another.

This is like an impossible question to answer ;D

Master of Puppets , yeah, but I think i like Ride The Lightning just as much

Killers was another great one.  But Number of the Beast just because of 'Hallowed be Thy Name' and it was Bruce's debut, which changed the band, for the better.

Slayer , Reign in Blood, no filler there, just 45 minutes of head whipping thrash.

I always thought Overkill was so underrated.  Feel The Fire was an awesome debut album.

Such a hard thing to answer, even though, excluding podcasts, 90% of the stuff in my music player is metal or close.  Got very few albums I like every song on and the few I play all the way through, Laterus by Tool for example, is a better experience that way and very few great tracks on it.

As for an album containing all masterpieces to the last song, i think id have to go with

      Metallicas Black Album
      AC/DC The Razors Edge

Some other GREAT albums, but those 2 are really Filled with works of art.
Some may argue AC/DC isnt metal and that can be right, haha.

      Symphony of destruction by Megadeth
Believe me, and I'm a heavy metal head, if you want heavy metal, that's the album.
Edit; I'd call it more thrash metal but it's got good lyrics n' all that.

I grew up listening to a lot of metal including many of the albums already listed.

      Some of my favourites were:

Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

      Metallica - Master of Puppets

Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction or Peace Sells... but Who's Buying

      Motörhead - Overkill or bas**rds

Then in the 90s, in amongst the grunge I loved I discovered the sound of Southern metal... Pantera.

I listened to Vulgar Display of Power first, which I still think is an incredible album. Then I went back to Cowboys From Hell which retained some of their glam rock sound but had some great tracks, not least Cemetary Gates.
Then as soon as it was released I bought...

       Pantera - Far Beyond Driven

That, to this day remains my favourite metal album and still gets regular plays.
