A win is a win well done the REDs. I was pleased that my grandson Sam witnessed a win on his first visit to Anfield. Special thanks to Stuart (Rodenberry) for fixing Sam up with a ticket and going the extra mile.

Thought Kolo was brilliant today, would definitely start him with Lovren until Sakho is back then give them two a go together

Glad your grandson got to a game Billy ,well done to Rodders on all his help for you ,nice touch and very nice to see ,well in man.
Glad we got a win  didnt see the game ,saw some highlights not fussed on Borini either way but the lad kept going gave his all and provided the cross to get us back when it seemed like a lost cause, for that he deserves  a shot up front, at least the lad has energy and he wants to prove everyone wrong, two up front next with the lad getting a crack can do no worse. Come on you reds onwards and upwards.

Exactly. A lot of the stick Mario has received is a result of Rodgers insistence on playing him as a loan striker. He tried it for 4/5 games and clearly didn't work. Hopefully the penny has well and truly dropped and he plays him with Borini as a strike partner until Stu returns.

That must be it! Balotelli needs to stop thinking he's a loanee and play like a £16m purchase instead!  :D

      Thought we were poor.

Didn't think we were ever going to score, couldn't believe we ended up with 2. We were restricted to long range shots for 90mins and never looked like opening Swansea up.

What has happened to Hendo this season? Is it just me who thinks hes transferred from the player he was last season to the player he was when he first signed for us?

Markovic is F***ing sh*te too. If he is worth 20m then I'm worth at least 25m.

Positives - Lovren looked more comfortable without Skrtel or Mignolet near him. Lucas came in and played well. Balotelli got a goal. We are through to the next round.

Manquillo-7 (Defended pretty well at times blocking and stopping crosses, needs a bit more

It amazes me how other people see the game.

I thought Manquillo was awful and has been since he joined.

The sooner Flanno is back the better.

So, another manager sets his team up to stop us by sitting deep and keeping lots of men behind the ball, just as Hull did on Saturday.

The difference between a draw (against Hull) and a win was the length of Balotellis studs, and a defense that switched off.

Speaking of the Swans defense switching off, that was great stuff by Balotelli to wind them up, even if he didn't mean it. He took a step forwards to make a grab at Shelvey. All the defenders and the goalie were watching him and Shelvey instead of concentrating on the ball.
It was only for a second, but that's all it takes.

Borini had a very good game. Good movement, got a few shots in and I was impressed that he took his man on and roughed him up a bit at times. Great cross for the first goal.
Lucas was good and had his passing boots on
Coutinho very good, but faded a bit second half
      The defense did OK
Henderson was all bluster and a bit ineffective
Jones needs to work on his kicking
Lambert had a few nice touches but did little to worry them
Markovic showed a couple of glimpses of the fine player he is, but little else and was disappointing overall, but give him time and he will come good.

I enjoyed the match and was strangely confident even when we went behind.

Agree re Borini and Lucas, thought for two players many would have wanted out this summer, they were two of the better performers last night. Great cross from Fabio for the Balo goal too. Lucas was the best of our two deep midfielders. Good to see Coutinho continue his return to form, can't wait to see him at his best. Glad somebody else isn't writing off Markovic! I think we've seen enough to see he's got quality and will show it once he's settled. His end product has been poor, but I agree, he'll come good.

Thought we played some good football in the first half especially. heavy touches when in the opponants box though, it'll get better as they gel.
Coutinho's movement with the ball at his feet was sublime but no one seemed to be quick enough in the head to be on his wavelength with their movement.

It looked over when they scored because we are having a drought up front.

So glad we came back and why were the commentators freaking out over their red card? That was a rough tackle, don't care if his studs weren't showing.

With their manager Monk on the sidelines screaming obscenities I was glad for the red and the win, he is a top level budgie faced hooligan of a man. Can't stand him, arrogant pleb that he is.

Last night showed that the squad is actually better in a lot of ways than last season, the 1st 11 was defo better last season thats obvious simply due to loss of suarez, but all others who have gone have been replaced with upgrades, who tbf are still fidning thier feet.

The 1st half last night was very good, then they got more into and and pressured us into another defensive mistake, but we did well to claw it back, finally a decent goal from balo, lovely cross from borini.

Id be tempted to leave Borini in the team v the geordies saturday, with borini & sterling either side of balo we could be very good.

ps. kudos to lucas & toure last night 2 players slagged to death on twitter phone ins etc. but both had very solid games, can't remember 1 bomb scare from toure and lucas fought like F~@% and played some nice forward passes.
