Johnson's given the ball away three times in 6 minutes when the obvious tactic here in the first 10 minutes is to maintain possession and silence the crowd

He did, I agree, but is anyone really surprised he's benched! I suppose we should be grateful he's available off the bench.

He's not picking on form. He's on record stating that the side is being picked six games in advance, hence the rotation.

I don't want to believe this, what if Borini scored a hattrick against Swansea ? He would have been left on the bench again ? No doubt, he deserved a starting place after his performance against Swansea, but Brendan doesn't want to give him any confidence, imagine any of you in his boots, playing very well in a game after a long break, hoping to pick up form, and then you find yourself on the bench again.

      Totally demoralising for the player.

Can't say I'm happy with that starting XI.

just try it say What the F**k is that line up all about. ;D
Who gets any of our line ups lately how bad does Johnson have to be to get dropped and whilst I have never rated Borini he deserves something for his performance midweek.
we will look foolish when we win 5-0

Lovren and Johnson have been so poor in keeping possession.

Managed to get and watch this one live. Seems we getting enough ball but against a packed defence again. Need to be careful we don't get caught on the break.
Speed the tempo up a bit as well, a bit too easy to defend against at the mo

I actually think we're doing quite well.

It's away from home, we're keeping the ball much better and we're showing patience

I'm not making this up, trust me. It was said in one of his pre-match press conferences early in the season where he talked about the key to success is rotation of the team. He said they'd done a statistical analysis and the most successful UCL teams are those that rotate. TAW's mentioned it several times as well.

Even then. We are playing Newcastle after all not Chelski or Citeh.

      We need to score goals.

Perhaps, he will bring another forward in the 2nd half.

      Johnson is a liability

Ameobi walks passed him then he's out of position 20 secs later

What is the point in this fannying around with the ball in our own half/third of the pitch if we then do something stupid that puts us under massive pressure?

There's next to no penetration and it could cost us.

We're playing defensive slow paced keep ball football with one up front away from home. The idea here is to keep it tight and not bomb forward. We've been leaking goals alarmingly and I think this is the Gaffer adapting

I think the tactics are spot on so far

Feel sorry for Mario after all the stick his getting he doesn't even get the chance to prove himself, because our midfield can't find him.

Considering the amount of pressure we're putting ourselves under and how many chances Newcastle are getting when we lose the ball I'd say they're most certainly not spot on.
