Leicester City 1-3 Liverpool: In game and Post Match celebration
      Dec 02, 2014 06:43:08 pm

Starting XI: Mignolet, Manquillo, Johnson, Toure, Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Lallana, Sterling, Lambert.

Subs: Jones, Lovren, Coutinho, Moreno, Allen, Can, Markovic.

Brendan Rodgers has made three changes to his Liverpool starting XI for the Reds' Barclays Premier League clash with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium tonight.

The manager restores Steven Gerrard to the line-up after the captain was named as a substitute for the side's 1-0 victory over Stoke City on Saturday. He comes in to replace Joe Allen.

Adam Lallana returns to the team as Philippe Coutinho makes way for the clash against the Foxes, while at the back, Rodgers names Javier Manquillo ahead of compatriot Jose Enrique.

Glen Johnson, the match-winner against the Potters at Anfield, retains his place alongside Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel, while Lucas Leiva and Jordan Henderson begin the game in midfield.

Rickie Lambert will make a fourth consecutive start, leading the Reds' forward line, as Raheem Sterling supplements the team's attack against Nigel Pearson's charges.

Reasonable lineup. Great to see Lallana get a start and Toure retain his place in the XI.

My concern is Gerrard and Lucas in the same midfield. I hope it looks like this:

      Lucas    Hendo
      Sterling    Gerrard      Lallana

But fear it looks like this instead:

      Gerrard
      Hendo      Lucas
      Lallana

I thought Enrique, Coutinho & Allen played well vs Stoke, all 3 didn't deserve to be dropped imo.

Has to be, Lucas and Hendo sitting? though I am not a fan of Hendo sitting.

Really don't like the look of our midfield.

I agree totally with you. Lucas should be the defensive midfielder. I feel that Gerrard is going to do a Johnson and scored against all odds.

Not unhappy with the line-up. Decent bench as well.

I think its a 4-2-3-1 with Lucas and Henderson infront of the back 4. Failing that it could be a diamond with lucas at the base on gerrard at the tip with hendo and lallana in the centre.

Amazed that once again a right back in Johnson is keeping 2 fuc*ing left backs out of the team including one Brendan courted all bloomin summer. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. First clean sheet in god knows how long and he tinkers with it.

Same here, chuffed to see Lallana play, still think him, Coutinho and Sterling should play in the same side as our three behind Lambert mind. Lucas has played well since coming back into the side in the last two games and the Madrid game so he deserves to play it I am also concerned about our lack of legs when both he and Stevie are in the same midfield. I don't think we will see a diamond though and I would expect to see Sterling operating on the right hand side. Also, I would have kept Enrique in the side after a decent performance at left back at the weekend, that was out first clean sheet in god knows how long so why change it? It's a head scratcher

Can anyone shed any light I why Moreno hasn't featured ?
I can't recall if he had picked up a injury,
I can't for the life of me understand why Johnson is in again , I mean fair enough he stuck his Heid in where it hurts but did that warrant a starting berth tonight ?

Anyhoo, it is what it is, hope the lads play with a high tempo tonight, we could do with bangin in 2-3 goals and another clean sheet,
But beware the injured beast , Leicester have slumped after their decent start and are due a victory, Sod's law will say we'll be the victims after getting our much needed win ,

C'mon Redmen let's set about these foxes from the get go, we're due to give someone a battering , why not tonight ?

      1-3

Argh, that's another thing I don't like, Sterling stuck out wide :( I think it's a waste of his abilities. Is Cambiasso playing? If so, Sterling would rip him to shreds in the middle!

      ;) You're too easy, bob.

Hope it's Gerrard as the furthest forward today. Don't want him next to Lucas, and i would rather him than Hendo pushing forward. Delighted Lallana starts.

ooooh, Konchesky, forgot about that piece of sh*t! Still think Sterling is better as a #10, but wouldn't mind seeing him vs Konchesky!!!

2-0 to  the Reds for me and another clean sheet for both Migs and the Back 4, get the confidence up and build from the back, Sterling and Lambert for the scorers !

Knowing our luck lately Lambert will injure himself 30 seconds into the game given we have no strikers on the bench.

Absurd. No way at all Rodgers is going to put Gerrard behind Lucas.Would be like putting Lambert behind Sterling.I think it will look something like this:

                               Lucas

                     Gerrard   Henderson

                                                Lallana

Or Henderson behind a higher up Gerrard & Lallana but ahead of Lucas.Great to see Lallana, hope he makes his mark but we need him high up for that, especially against Leicester I hope to see our midfield attack with only Lucas as DM.Plus we need to tee up Rickie. He should score today easy with this lineup if we go forward.

                             Mignolet

      Manquillo     Skrtel     Toure     Johnson

                                Lucas

      Hendserson                             Lallana

                              Gerrard

                      Sterling
                                    Lambert

Gotta be that really? Couldn't see him benching Stevie again, so let's see how we play. ;D
