The problem is, and always will be, the transport infrastructure.

Without huge investment by the council, the roads would not cope with the extra fans. There is an rail link, but no station.

      Just not going to happen.

      True.

I suppose it's easy enough to get that number of fans in the stadium but getting them to and from the area is the problem.

Images look good. It seems weird that this giant construction is only going to add >8000 seats.

On a separate note, if you see the back end of the KOP and see that street littered in Red (presumably LFC bunting or the sort) and the two streets either side of that; I walked up (one of those streets) there one year and had probably the cheapest pint of John Smith, in some sort of little social club. All concrete on the outside - looked like a prison, and when we were in there drinking; these little toe-rags (Scally wags) kept running in trying to nick wallets and fags off the tables. The bar-man kept leaping over the bar chasing them out every 5 minutes. It was quite entertaining to watch.  :D

Anyway, does anyone know what this place is called?

well its all about the money, i would of knocked it all down and moved the pitch further right and onto park a bit, that would of given the space to build 70'000 plus stadium

Give it another 5-10 years, or maybe a bit longer, after this expansion is complete. If we are a force in Europe and the club thinks they could sell more tickets to games, they will find a way to increase the capacity.

Sorry to be dismissive, but again, the capacity can not bet increased to the 70-80,0000 as the transport infrastructure will not acconodate that amount of people.

This is out of the clubs hands. Locals and the council have the power here.

All they can do is rectify the Corporate side, which is what they are doing.
Nevermind the increase in capacity. Look at the framework.
Massive corporate hospitality going into that stand.

Yes, the plans for the hospitality is huge and quite nauseating.

I will be disappointed if we see this type of corporate enthusiasm, but not shocked.

That's why they are not really arsed about doing Annie Road.
They're going to get what they really want done with the Main Stand.

Now excuse me, the Prosecco is getting warm.

as bad as it is football is no longer a sport for the local working man we have to accept that because if we dont we will continue to fall behind the times, this stadium expansion is 10yrs to late and should have started on the back of the instanbul win.
corporate boxes bring in big bucks at the end of the day which should filter down to player contracts, and new buys.
this is step one, next step is then anfield road.

I stand by what I said, the club will find a way. Businessmen are businessmen and if the transport infrastructure isn't there, they will work with the council to get it done. Or some way to get it done.

It has happened here before in America, multiple times actually, and those are American businessmen so to me I could see it happening but not for years down the road. If their are profits to be made from an investment, especially in sports, that investment will be made one way or the other.

Go take a look at Wrigley Field in Chicago, a renovation that is taking place currently. So many obstacles were in the way and yet the club pushed past all of them. From getting the plans through the city (which was a bi*ch to do and took years), to being sued by the locals and rooftop owners because of size as well as securing the surrounding buildings and places to sign off on some of the changes. Go back 5 years and people would have said it was impossible to do a 500M renovation to Wrigley and yet it is ongoing and looking quite nice if I might add.

I think that's the aim, for the foundations anyway. Then all the interior and what not will be finished for the start of the following season.

I guess the steel structure is the easiest and fastest part to build - the finishing will be the hardest part... Still, its going up at a fair old wack..!
