Yet more points earned by our wonderful owners there. Not only insult him at the Cup Final, summon him for a sacking, yet they also don't attend a stand being unveiled in his name.

      Arseholes.

Congrats Kenny, you deserve it more than any other. The very definition of legend.

Looks like the "Prior engagement" was a silent disco.
No respect for the King. Still visualise that disgusting photo where Henry blanks Dalglish when they're getting medals.

I wonder what the prior engagement was that was so important it meant none of the 3 could be there, perhaps another doughnut commercial deal.

They may as well have just come out and publicly told Kenny to shove it, at least that way they'd be cutting out all the bullshit that goes with it that they get their lap dogs to try and bail them out with.

Great to be at Anfield today for the unveiling of the King Kenny stand and to see the mosaic...wonderful and very fitting for a legend such as Kenneth Dalglish.

Kenny will be written through Liverpool long after FSG are consigned to the annals of history like a Nigel Spackman.

Plodders for whom Liverpool changed their families quality of life.

Right decision by the owners not turning up for this as it would have overshadowed the Kings day by batting away takeover questions, transfers & Klopp..

Was my first trip to Anfield since the development finished. Sat in the new top tier. Was well weird! So high up, was like watching a game at Wembley. Cracking view though. Was also weird seeing elevators at Anfield!

Hope you enjoyed it, I was sat in the main stand lower yesterday, much better seat now they've removed the pillars.

All we need now is for Anfield to become a FORTRESS once again and put the shits up every visiting team before they have even kicked a ball.Just like the good old days of Bill,Bob,Joe and Kenny.

Liverpool FC to announce Anfield Road extension plans later this year

      Announcement expected this summer
Club have been considering 3 proposals
Work will begin after new training ground is complete next year

Phase one of Anfield’s redevelopment saw the Main Stand increase the famous stadium’s capacity to just over 54,000, with work being completed last season.

Next, the proposed phase two – which the club have outline planning permission for as part of their original planning application in April 2014 – will add a further 7,000 additional seats.

That new capacity of around 61,000 would make Anfield the second biggest club stadium in the country behind Old Trafford – although Manchester City have plans to expand their stadium to a similar size and Tottenham‘s new White Hart Lane will hold 62,000.

Liverpool have had three designs drawn up, with the final design to be revealed later in 2018 – most likely in the summer.

The new stand, which will see Anfield Road itself closed off, will be the same height as the new Main Stand and from the outside will aesthetically look the same with a three-tier design. Plans include an external podium similar to the Main Stand and large glass windows.

Away fans will be housed on the other side of the stand, nearer to the Kenny Dalglish stand and therefore where visiting coaches arrive into Arkles Lane.

The club will complete the new training complex at Kirkby, with work there due to start imminently, before beginning construction of the new Anfield Road End.

The £50 million training ground expansion is set to be completed in 2019, with a roadmap for the Anfield Road End seeing its completion in 2021.

That would be a similar timeframe as the Main Stand, which saw construction begin in December 2014 and conclude just in time for the 2016/17 season.

The current Anfield Road End holds just under 9,000 supporters but features heavily obscured views in the back sections of the lower tier. The new stand will have fully unobstructed views and will house around 16,000 supporters.

Given that the new Main Stand holds around 20,000 supporters and the Kop has a capacity of 12,600, you can get a sense of the scale and how vast the new stand will be.

The last official word from the club regarding the expansion of the Anfield Road End was in December when CEO Peter Moore told Sky Sports: “We totally get what we need to do. We’re going to do what we did with the Main Stand as an operating group, which is look at what we need to do in a measured manner.”

Last April, Andy Hughes, Liverpool’s chief operating officer, explained that: “We always said that we would complete the Main Stand and assess its success before looking at any development for Anfield Road.

“Our outline planning consent expires in August 2019 and we will follow the same robust process for Anfield Road as we did for the Main Stand.

“We are currently working up design, feasibility, cost, capacity and economic viability options. Only once we have completed this comprehensive process and come to a conclusion will it be the right time to move forward with any development programme.”

You can therefore expect an announcement on the new plans before that August deadline.

There are no plans to expand either the Kop or the Kenny Dalglish Stand, or to ‘fill in’ the corners of the stadium – this is due to the external cantilever supports at each end of the Kop.

      Not sure how reliable...

Also I would have expected it to contain something about public transport links too if the seats are above 60k.

This is great news if true. Coupled with the probability that we move from Melwood to an expanded Kirby and the infrastructure is all of a sudden starting to look modern.

Incidentally, as referenced in that article, an expansion of the Annie Road would bring our capacity up past 60,000 and near Spurs new capacity. Does anyone know how Tottenham are paying for their stadium? Any possibility of them going prudent in the transfer market like Arsenal did after the Emirates was built?

Team first, then stadium! Then you can say they have the clubs best interest at heart. As it is we still have a sell to buy policy, and as much as I want to see an increased capacity, it does nothing but increase the clubs value unless the extra revenue generated goes towards the transfer kitty.
All the extra TV and sponsorship money hasn't exactly increased our budget thus far!
If they really had the clubs best interests at heart, they'd fund it from their own pockets!

Mock up for sure. That's just the main stand at 3 sides of the ground.  Looks nice though, but I don't think it's possible to expand the Kenny Dalglish stand to that size.

For all the talk of investments in the team though... Look at United who invest more than anyone, it's got them nothing but problems. They have the most expensive manager, the most expensive midfielder the most expensive forwards... Are they better than us? I don't think so.

But I still get what you mean, more more into the club is a good thing when done right.
