Giant keeper who is supposedly the next Manuel Neuer (along with the other young bunch in Germany at the moment)!

Certainly looks a real unit who commands his box and is a great shot stopper too. Not great with his feet though.

Hey Brendan, glad to see you're using the forum. Feel free to use my advice on transfers more often.

There are quite a few good goalkeepers in Germany too. Not gonna say I've watched all of them extensively but from what I've seen they're pretty good: Zieler (from Hannover, counts as home grown as he played for Man Utd academy), Leno (Leverkusen), Trapp (Frankfurt), Adler (Hamburger), Horn (Koln).

We don't need someone to "challenge" Mignolet.  We need someone to replace him.

Is this lad going to come in and do it right away?

Because someone like Cech would do just that.

Cech isn't going to happen. He doesn't fit the FSG criteria and would cost far too much, both fee and wages.

From what little I've seen of him, I'd say he would REPLACE Simon Mignolet from the off.

A few in Germany say he is better than Marc Andre ter-Stegen.

I think so too, especially given Migs current form.

Slightly off topic, but an interesting read on three "next big thing" German keepers...

So much potential with that name.

Seriously, though, I've read nothing but great things about Timo Horn as a keeper. We should be seriously considering him.

Of the  "next Manuel Neuer" bunch of young German goalkeepers personally I'd go with Bernd Leno who I think is a good few yards better than Horn at the moment but if Timo Horn did walk through Melwood's doors I wouldn't complain one bit. He's big, strong and a bit like Szczesny or ÄŒech in that even though he doesn't pull off the super-duper-athletic-diving-out-of-a-flaming-building-in-order-to catch-a-priceless-vase-whilst-everyone-is-recording-me-so-this-better-be-on-match-of-the-day kind of saves Mignolet occasionally pulls off but he keeps the ball out of the net and that's really all that matters.

I watch a bit of German football and would have to agree with this Class. He's young and a bit raw (maybe not exactly what we need right now) but he's certainly, in my opinion, best of the new breed. I certainly wouldn't be upset if we were to sign him.

I also have a soft spot the Swiss lad [Yann Sommer] who's playing very well for Borussia Monchengladbach at the moment - a bit more mature and experienced than Leno - at 25 he's just entering his goalkeeping prime. If I had my pick from the Bundesliga [without Neuer]; it would be Sommer.

Another good German keeper and probably the most attainable is Mainz's Loris Karius. He spent a bit of time at Manchester City so has a grasp of the English game already and is probably the closest thing you will see to Manuel Neuer (the way in which he spreads himself, speed off the line and ability to be a sweeper keeper).

Love watching Gladbach too, would take a few of their players... Sommer is pretty good and so are Kramer, Herrmann, Kruse.

Also been watching a bit of Hoffenheim and their new keeper seems to have very good reflexes though I have not paid much attention to other abilities such as distribution which our current gk lacks

If you have an account with Bet365 you can watch Timo Horn in action against Wolfsburg right now!

Should be a good game to see what he is about as Wolfsburg are an attacking side too.

I would love Cech, but even if we decided to break away from the usual policy, I can't see those turds at Chavski selling him to us.

Tim Horne, however, would be an excellent buy. He makes some errors in judgement, and he's still learning, but he's a big lad and commands the penalty area. Huuuuge improvement on Migs.
