good news but begs the reason we bought Bogdan as no2 when we are offering Ward and that french GK new deals. why not just promote one of them as being no2 is only really there as emergancy unless you go out and buy a top GK who will push your no1.

Because Danny has only had 5 1st team appearances when on loan at Morecombe last season, that's the sum total of his professional career mate.  We've given him a new long term deal to see how or if he'll develop enough to replace Bogdan when his contract is up, he'll very likely go out on loan again for next season and maybe even the season after just like the chavs did with whatshisface.  He's only 22 (today) so has plenty of time yet.

This. To be honest, we should have given him bit of a chance instead of signing Bogdan.

can't remember the last time an english club promoted a goalkeeper from their youth ranks and made them 1st choice keeper....

that said i'd rather have bogdan #2 than ward

Really? A keeper that couldn't even get in the Bolton team?

yes, he's just a bigger name to have in the squad ahead of ward who's played like 10 league 2 appearances.....

bogdan has 19 caps for hungary and has played a season in the prem, saving a rooney pen.

that said 2nd choice keepers don't interest me what so ever, i wouldn't have wanted this club to spend 10.9m on cech for example

He's joined Aberden on a season long loan.

Aberdeen have signed Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward on a season-long loan deal.

"I am delighted to get Danny on board," manager Derek McInnes said.

"He is a young goalkeeper we have been aware of for some time. We are thankful to Liverpool and Brendan [Rodgers] in particular for allowing this to happen."

Aberdeen have had problems with both senior keepers, so I imagine they've signed Danny to play him. A year of battling with Scottish forwards could be the making of him.

Not sure it massively matters where he goes as long as he's getting first team football. Obviously the higher the standard the better, but as a goalkeeper you have to deal with the same things wherever you go: crosses, shot stopping, one on ones and distribution etc.

It's not as Important as an outfield, who has to perform more in competition with the quality of opposition. Make sense?

Yea I noticed Aberdeen got thru.

These early Europa rounds are tough. St. Johnstone already out ffs. Is big reason why I think we should have a winter break and start season earlier up here. Need to give our teams a better chance in europe, these games are being played during pre-season.

After a nervous moment in the first couple of minutes, Danny was excellent tonight. Commanded his box well and made a couple of decent saves. 3-0 win away from home means Aberdeen should go through, meaning a few more European matches for him.

      Aberdeen fan, then?

Think a fair few of us on here would appreciate updates on his progress if you watch most of their games! :)

Keep the updates coming please! Saw him in training when they were at Fenway last year and thought he looked an impressive athlete. Always love to see an academy grad succeed.
