Sunderland 0-1 Liverpool: In game and Post Match Debate
      Jan 10, 2015 11:45:10 am

Starting XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Henderson, Moreno, Lucas, Gerrard, Markovic, Coutinho, Borini.
Subs: Ward, Enrique, Lovren, Lambert, Manquillo, Balotelli, Rossiter.

Fabio Borini starts for Liverpool on his return to Sunderland in this afternoon's Barclays Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light.

The Italian forward leads the Reds' line against the club he spent last season on loan to as Brendan Rodgers makes two changes to the side he fielded against Wimbledon on Monday.

There's also a start for Alberto Moreno in the north east, with Javier Manquillo and Rickie Lambert dropping to the bench.

I'm happy that Borini is starting although I'd of liked him to partner Balotelli.

Would have gone Balotelli myself, might not have scored lately but since he came back from injury he's looked a lot better than Borini and Lambert.

Still, it's a chance for Borini to put himself in the shop window so let's hope he takes it.

I am not loving Hendo as a wing-back. He's gonna get plenty from their fans - especially out of position.

Attacking line up though - wondered what BR would do up front and he's obviously went with Borini for movement.

Moreno, Makovic will be the wing backs. Lucas Hendo in the middle

Not too fussed on Borini, I think he'll make room and give passing options up top.

What I'm worried about mostly is the midfield pairing and Hendo as a wing back.

Lazar will play RWB.. Its Hendo-Lucas pairing in the middle; Couts and Stevie play behind Borini

Thanks mate - managed to completely fail to see Markovic. would like to see that with Stevie pushed on. I'd actually really like to see a midfield 3 of Can and Hendo with Lucas anchoring and Stevie pushed on over coming weeks.

      Lucas Gerrard midfield = fail
Luckily with Cattermole out they've lost their midfield engine.
I can see Borini scoring too. Too little too late.

      All good pal and you?

Just have that gut feeling with him going back to the club he helped last season plus the fact I think his movement will cause Shea huge problems and he's due a goal

      Interesting X1,
Borini up top, hope he provides the movement we'll need and a target for Cou's passing, great to see Can in think he's a beast but would prefer him in midfield, I'm assuming Markovic will play next to Stevie on the right as Moreno being on the left, it's not a bad line up if I'm honest, we're going to miss Sterling & Lallana obviously but still think if we apply ourselves positively we can get 3pts ,

Yet another forced change for Brendan, glad he has stuck with a attack minded formation, great to see young Rossiter on the bench , this young lad oozes class, not sure he'll cross the whitewash but interesting Brendan has included him for a prem fixture all the same, food for thought right there ,

Plenty of pace on the wings again. I'm worried about Gerrard and Lucas in the middle if that's the plan. If Stevie plays further forward it'll mean Hendo will probably have to sacrifice his game to sit deep with Lucas.

Just back from coaching wee man's team to a 2-1 win over local rivals and he got the winner with a nice Fowler-esque left footed pass into the far corner - so all is very good.

Hope you're right - always feel we owe this mob one!

Nice to see Borini get a rare start but it's so obvious he's only starting against Sunderland cus they are the only club who would realistically buy him this window. It's quite sad how this club is being run now.

Anyway not confident about this one I predict another draw 1:1.
