They finished 2nd in Serie A last year Debs and 5th, 3rd and 2nd in the season's previous to that so they have been there or thereabouts.

As for other clubs and why they haven't come in for him I don't know, maybe there will be some movement for him over the summer. If Napoli are wanting to sell him on while they can still get a decent fee (as they did with Cavani) it may well happen this summer.

So a bit like us when Luis was rampant.  How long has he been at Napoli then mate?

He's been banging them in for years. Do I think we should meet his release clause? No. But if we think Benteke is worth £32m then he's worth a fair bit.

I'm guessing the rest of the squad is a bit meh then mate.  They've done reasonably well in their league but I've not heard of them doing well in Europe, not like Juve in 14/15 so he's not elevated them that much.

You reckon he can continue with those numbers in the PL mate?  There's not many 30 somethings that have arrived on a big fee and lived up to their previous numbers.

there wont be a serious link this close to Euro 2016 starting, in fact this tournament is why the Italians are using Higuain to try and get money into their country, perhaps the last big money big name move for some years!

City look likely to get Auba, we could do with Higuain but are FSG likely to change their strategy.
Well, they'll have to change their strategy, or else they should change their club.

Yeah, this will be bollocks. Really don't think we're after a striker and if we were I very much doubt it would be Higuain at that age and price.

how many footballers are there around the world and not all of them are going to cost £50 mil plus. This lad is not for us too old and too slow for the EPL.

FSG have brainwashed a lot to be honest, too many people think of resale values rather than if a player would improve us and help us win things

With the TV deals on offer the next 4 years resale values should f**k off and simply try to win things with the best possible players that will help you do that

You can't always try to plan for 5 years down the line... We aren't a Pompy or a Leeds.. But we are in danger of turning into a Spurs or Everton who regularly compete for f**k all by trying to be too f**king smart

Let's take a few gambles and win some pots

      Cheers for the replies guys.

Quick question, if he's so good how come Napoli haven't been challenging or won anything?

Also how come nobody else has tried buying him?  Is it cos he's so expensive for his age?

It seems strange that city or the chavs haven't gone for him seeing as they have money to burn.  Is it possible that PSG would want him now they've lost Ibra?

He's banged in a record number of goals for his side, in a team that is not standout. He's played at top clubs, has massive league and international experience, scored wherever he went. Proven quality.

What have the guys we've signed so far done?  There's a reason why they come cheaper.  Not saying they're not good, but they have a lot yet to prove.

I agree I think FSG shouldn't be too greedy in regards to sell on value of players considering they've already made money on the likes of Torres, Suarez and Sterling.

He's 28 dude, how is that too old? Too old for our tried, tested and trusted transfer policy maybe but not too old to come in and score a ton of goals in the EPL over the next few seasons. He's not slow, he's no whippet but he isn't slow.

I'll be honest when we were linked to him last year I wasn't over the moon, but the more I've watched and read on him, I'm convinced he would be an instant upgrade and would improve our starting 11. Isn't that the goal? Also might push Danny on again to have the kind of season he had with Suarez.

I don't think Klopp would play both Higuain and Studge in first 11 constantly. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see Klopp retreating from 4231 formation.

We might have to pay someone to take Mario.
Man, how bad a buy was he in retrospect.

This a thousand times. If you want to be mindful of our bottom line, quit paying too much for "OK" players and don't accumulate a bloated squad. But when you have a chance to bring in some real quality, you have to go for it. Otherwise we're in a 4th to 10th rut and that should never be the LFC comfort level.
