Spot on. Some people's sights are low, and seem resigned to it. We want to win things, we need some top quality.

Maybe this is another thread altogether, but am I right to think that over the past 20 seasons, our top five overall players have mostly been homegrown and not transfer buys?

I suppose you could argue about the top 5, but I'm thinking 4 of our best 5 players in that time span came up through the ranks, with Suarez the only one we purchased.

We'll probably end up with Federico Higuain instead.

Two of the better buys by far. I guess it's another discussion as to who the top five or top 10 players of the past 20 seasons are.

I agree, not a chance we'll sign this lad.

But it's laughable to me that the idea of signing a player like Higuain is somehow considered by us all to be somehow ludicrous. Too old, no resale value, doesn't fit the FSG model etc. This lad is a frickin goal machine. He scored em in South America, he scored a bucket full at Madrid, he's still banging them in at Napoli and his record for Argentina isn't too shabby either. Id be doing cartwheels if we could sign a player like this. He's no Morientes who was simply too lightweight for the EPL.

      He's hardworking
      He's strong as an Ox
His link up play is superb
He is surprisingly quick in the final third
      And he is bloody prolific

A fricking goal machine is right... and he plays lots of games per season which helps.

Bagged 2 again last night. I know this is dead in the water, I don't even think there was any water but still...i'd wet myself if we signed him.

I was lukewarm on him last season because I haven't seen him play much,  but the more I  watch him, the more I think we could do with signing him. But....we won't.

If that got you excited then you wouldn't have lasted the Suarez-era without wanking yourself in to an early grave.

That's not all the goals he's scored or all he's done, but I guess being snide is easier than genuine debate.

I've watched him more than you, i'd bet my life on it.

I don't really care about your opinion, not sure why you think I would, and my comments were in no way random. I was merely pointing out that I'd not watched him a lot in the past but as I've watched him more this year and in this tournament, I'm changing my mind on him. Check yourself before you wreck yourself kid. ;)
