Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea (League Cup SF 1st Leg): In game and Post Match Debate
      Jan 20, 2015 06:43:33 pm

Starting XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard, Moreno, Markovic, Coutinho, Sterling

Subs: Ward, Enrique, Lambert, Manquillo, Lallana, Borini, Rossiter

Brendan Rodgers has made just one change to his starting XI for tonight's League Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Anfield - Steven Gerrard comes back into the side to replace Fabio Borini.

The skipper sat out Liverpool's Barclays Premier League victory over Aston Villa at the weekend, but he is restored to the line-up for the eagerly anticipated first leg encounter with Jose Mourinho's men.

Elsewhere, the Reds are unchanged from the win at Villa Park, but the boss has made two alterations to his substitutes' bench, with Jordan Rossiter replacing Jordan Williams and Borini taking the place of Jordon Ibe.

      Happy with that line up.

Gerrard should be pumped for this one as its a chance to get another trophy before he goes.

Rossiter to score the winner off the bench. You heard it here first.

I'm surprised Lovren hasn't even made the bench. If one of our back three gets injured we're screwed.

Then we will play 4 at the back.

That or Terry will slip and we'll get a reverse of the Ba goal last year.

      Simple as that.

Good to see the boss sticking to 3 4 3 and hoping we can impose our game on them.

In a back 3, a defensive fullback like Manquillo or Enrique would do just fine I reckon. Requires less Centreback-iness in to play as part of a 3.

      I'm the opposite Swab.

I have a good feeling about tonight.

Maybe I'm just excited as I finally have time to see a game when its actually being played.

Heart says 2-1, head says 1-2
Have to put in a energetic and disciplined performance from the first whistle to the last.
Our performances recently have brought us to this point where we can finally show what all the hardwork, changes and new players can deliver.

I always get nervous before big games, especially cup games i.e. semi's onwards

It's nothing to do with how I think it will go, just something that's always happened.
The nerves will be gone as soon as the game kicks off.
Then I'll open some whiskey

Haha, I started on the booze earlier. Probably why I am so bullish about our chances

;D, I'm going to wait, because I have a tendency to throw drinks down when I'm nervy like now, and that's not a good idea with whiskey ;)

Soon as the nerves settle, I'll be right there with you :D

Me too. I have started on the wine early, in the hope it will help to calm the nerves. Hasn't worked yet, hate the waiting, just want the game to start.
I hate them with a passion and just want us to win, don't care how we do it, just want us to do it!
I have a sneaky feeling Gerrard may just shove their lousy song about him straight back where the sun don't shine!
      Come on you Redmen!
