Sheyi Ojo (Liverpool > Cardiff City)
      Jan 26, 2015 02:20:43 pm
About time this lad had his own player thread seeing as he's been on the 1st team bench a couple of times this season.  Another exciting prospect who at 17 has already moved up to and secured his place in the u21's squad.

If this guy keeps up the phenomenal progress he's made this season, he's going to be awesome  ;D

Sheyi joined the club in 2011 from MK Dons.

A pacey winger who can play on the left or right flank, he can be a nightmare for opposing defenders to play against.

After featuring for the U18 squad, Ojo stepped up to the U21 squad for the 2014-15 season and also received a call-up to the England U18 squad.

Set to join Wigan on loan, per the Echo.

Good move for him. Will hopefully fill the gap in there left by Mcmanaman and shine.

Playing at that level yes. But with the wooly backs, who are second from bottom? Don't know about that. He'll go there full of confidence only for it to sapped out when he's in a dressing room where morale will be low if their results carry on as they are.

great move for him hopefully he's a full first team player next season and we dont go out and buy all sorts of wingers/forwards as we have great raw talent already,

Says a lot about how highly regarded he is that a Championship side has taken him at just 17 years old.  Let's hope he'll force his way into the starting 11 soon and makes the most of the loan opportunity.

Nearly no chance of him being a first teamer next season. If he stays (which I don't think would be good), he'll get about 100 minutes in cups and like. Far more likely is this being a spring board to a better loan next year. He is 17 and, despite being rather good, he isn't Sterling.

Agree on going on loan at his age. Really hope this works out for him because it seems a good move.

It'll give him a taster mate and if he does well and actually gets some gametime, it'll benefit him long term.  It's a big risk though going to a relegation threatened team at his development stage.  It worked for Ibe last season going to Birmingham, helping them stay up got him a move to Derby in the summer but he's a bit older.

As much as auld Malky's proven himself to be a bit of a c**t, he should do well at Wigan as Mackay's teams are high pressing and use similar coaching methods to Rodgers.

Ideally, teams who play a more progressive and continental approach like ours and who are ideal for our younger players in the Championship are Bournemouth, Wigan, Brentford to name a few. Even McClaren has changed his methods into a more modern approach at Derby which is why we have quite a good relationship with that club.

LFC reserve / youth footy experts....who does Ojo remind you most of? What is his potential? Is he similar to what we already have or more like another present or past player for us or someone else?

The potential is all there, it's down to him now.  I don't think he's like any other player mate, like his choice of hair styles, he's unique.  He's a quick, strong, left sided winger but has played wingback and all across the front line and midfield.  He's very young and therefore his performances can be inconsistant but that's improving this season, hopefully he'll get enough gametime at Wigan to improve it even more.

It'll be tough for him, going from youth football straight into pro level is a huge leap, in more than just the football.

Fantastic that he got on the pitch, they were never going to beat Bournemouth but he obviously made an impression if he was named motm.  Keep up the good work lad.

Awful pitch to have to play on. Looks like the egg chasers have been playing on it.

very left footed ... raw ... but you can see his ability, his vision and his pace. One to look out fore and I hope he enjoys the first team football over the next few months.

He'll be class. We really have many good young wingers who'll and can be 1 of the best wingers in the world in the future. Sterling, Ibe, Ojo, Markovic, Sinclair and Teixera!

He's a very quick player, but he also has the physicality to deal with the Premier League.

Okay, he's not the finished article, but he has a good basis there to work from and he should make it with us. Really exciting talent.
