Could have done with his pace today, so one dimensional without Mane.

He wouldnt even be anywhere near the team.

And i dont think pace was the problem, it's player intelligence....we have many stupid players.

Pace is absolutely the problem right now.

If you can't see how much we miss Mane you are blind... or stupid.

Of course we miss mane but mane isn't all about pace, he's intelligent off the ball with his movement.

Our defending is and always will be our biggest problem...stopping and clearing crosses is our biggest weak link.

We're not a 1 man team, we still have hendo phil bobby adam origi sturridge....this is good enough to beat Sunderland, Swansea and Southampton

Agreed on the defence but not on our players lacking game intelligence.

Our only players I think lack game intelligence are Moreno, Klavan and Can.

Mane is effective primarily because of his blistering pace which makes his movement look great.

If Firmino and Lallana had the pace of Mane they would look just as good as they also have very intelligent movement.

He played well and is generally doing ok playing regularly and enjoying the epxerience.

It was a cracking goal too and not the usual type he scores.

Then why have they both struggled to score over the last 2/3 months?

Firmino 3 goals in his last 11 PL games.

Lallana 4 goals in his last 14 PL games.

Why then does Mane score more if he's equally intelligent.

Could it be because of his... pace?

Got an assist for the only and winning goal for Barnsley today to add to his goal last week.

      Keep it up Ryan.

He is Saying he wants to return and fight for a place. Good lad!

I actually like him more than Ojo and Markovic tbh. He seems to be more tenacious, quick, but also a good footballer. I really hope he gets an opportunity next season.

      WHAT HAS HE GOT?

This player has benefited from a spell at Coventry City last season and is one of a handful of players who Jürgen Klopp has loaned out to the Football League.

His asset is his excellent pace that can take him away from his marker and attract cover that then opens up space for his colleagues.

He is mainly a speed merchant but he has a few other irons in his bag as well. Although a right-footed player on the left side, he used his left foot to cross the ball well on two occasions recently when forced on the outside.

When faced with an onrushing full back he played a lovely first time ball 'round the corner' to his striker and also played a sensible 'give and go' after a strong run which cut his marker dead.

That convinced me that he has the ability to look up even when running at speed. Indeed, when I first saw him, I thought he was just a straight line runner but he has improved.

      WHAT DOES HE NEED?

In the early moments of a recent game it was clear he had the upper hand over a young right back but strangely his team-mates did not exploit this obvious advantage.

At this stage he should have roamed and commanded the ball but he does not seem that kind of player. Perhaps the manager should have insisted that he receive a stream of passes.

I cannot judge his physical bravery or heading strength but his desire to get into the box when the play was on the opposite flank was questionable. Maybe that's why he does not get into enough goal-scoring positions. He works hard for the team defensively, helping keep its shape but I was simply willing that his team-mates gave him the ball more often. I shall watch his progress with interest but there is certainly promise here.

Sorry for another Kent post, but listen to what these guys say about him!! Not sure who they are, but they are really really impressed with his potential.

Edit: It was the end of season review for Coventry 15/16!

Looks like the loan deal has done him the world of good.
Looked sharp and willing to take on his opposition player also much improved in his decision making.

No idea why we have been linked with Demary Grey in the past when we have this lad on the books.

Stand out player for me in the second half last night looks like a strong lad too. With some work this boy could really do some damage for us I think.

Maybe better to keep him than loan him out, with the extra games we will have this season

      100%

Said in the match thread he looks like the natural replacement for Mane or Salah off the bench
