We threw to tall targets on the field and I think they must've been in the box once between them. If you're going to go for a plan b then at least get in a position to execute it.

This is the one big regret Brendan should have. The injury to Sakho didn't help either with Brendan bringing on Johnson, but it was either him or Lovren, so pick your poison.

Would have preferred Lovren myself, he's at least a centre back. We had Hendo coming back to make up a back four at times.

I'd like to say I'm chuffed Mignolet is doing so well in the MOTM poll, he did have a great game. First time I've seen him command that box with authority. Still think Cout edged it for me but well done to Simon anyway.

I think he wants to validate Mario. Riskier to do that in the league.

I reckon he's better of starting with Mario against the likes of West Ham. 10-20 mins here and there will do nothing for him. I still maintain, that he will be much better in a front two with Sturridge.

      Disappointed

      Let's look where we are

The squad isn't balanced, we lack a cutting edge, we lack goals through the whole side, as much as I love watching the likes of Coutinho he lacks goals.. As does an ageing Gerrard, as do Lallana, Markovic currently, Sterling, Hendo, Lucas and then you move onto the forwards, Balotelli, Lambert and Borini.. None really carry goals..
We rely currently on an injury probe forward.

Look I think Rodgers still has questions to answer, both on the field and with transfers, but he also deserves credit as a manager who has shown his ability to tighten up his side defensively when people said he can't set up a side to defend, we currently look very solid.. But it must frustrate him that he can't put players on the pitch who can take games away from the opposition like he could with Suarez. The strikers we have we have to be honest and say it's f**king embarrassing.. Whoever decided that they can take us forward had massive questions to answer, we look solid in defence, we look fluid in attack until the important part when we look absolutely blunt, it's so frustrating, the last three games we have played we have had one... one... Goal through one piece of magic but it truth we very rarely look like scoring in open play beyond that.. Yes Courtois made some good saves but the finished weren't beyond him, weren't in places where you really take your hat off to him and lord him, they are standard saves for a good keeper.

This squad needs tweaking, f**k saying that we can't move the squad around because if we don't we may as well give up.. All managers ( and committee's in our case) make mistakes, look at Fergie signing 3 20 million pound midfielders in 12 months and only one work out, did they give up? Or move on? We have to admit mistakes and try to continue to improve, this squad has it's limitations and the last three games had shown it's limitations. We played very well over the two legs with a lot to take from them but we didn't do enough or look threatening enough in truth

Positives but we need to tweak the squad

It still all boils down to Coutinho finishing his 1 on 1, and Sterling passing to Stevie.

Yeah, Sahko was doing very well, but as soon as I saw Johnson take his fleece off, I text my lad and said, " that's it then, all over, Johnson's coming on"   I F***ing knew things would go down hill as soon as he came on.
Then Balo ? FFS, Johnson took a throw in, and Balo patted his chest to say where he wanted it. So Johnson throws it at his feet, and he's caught on his heels and Chelsea player runs through him and carries the ball away. How F***ing simple can it be ?

Henderson too if you want to boil it down to individual moments.

Sterling was far from woeful, he just needed to finish. But he's playing out of position and branded for not being 'clinical finisher'

To be  fair , I think its his 'decision making' which is upsetting some fans, me included,

Very impressed with alot of our players....they showed commitment and desire.
We are obviously lacking a cutting edge. We desperately need Sturidge back and a back up.
Other than missing a striker we did great.
Some solid foundations in regard to the team and some individuals were created by that game over 2 legs.

Hendo, Moreno, Couts, simple pass by Raheem to Gerrard.

No teams create many more chances than that against the Chelsea first team at home..........

It's all getting a bit repetitive now..

On the bright side, unbeaten inside 90 minutes against top of the league twice in a week. Our 90 minute clean sheets are picking up, its obviously just the finishing side.

It's clear we won't be getting a striker this window, so be prepared for loads more frustrating results like this till the end of the season lads. I think if Studge gets back, he won't be around too many games before he is injured again.

In fairness to Mario , he didn't get.involved in the build.up.play, but F**k.me he's no striker! (Or defender apparently) Sterling worked his ass off as usual, but he can't finish.
The team is crying out for a Striker, Sturridge May have made a difference tonight.

Overall, Chelsea's stronger Team was the difference. Going to bed now deflated  :-\

Costa is an Embarrassed Honestly. Should of been off tonight. In first leg he was at it aswell. With Markovic last week. Can Gerrard skrtel tonight!

Am disappointed. We played good football tonight unlucky not to score we created chances Sterling first half could of cut it into Stevie., Hendos header second half. We played well wasn't to be.
