Would have thought the same, might just be a gee up to the player's admirers.

Step down for sure, but step up financially if rumour is accurate. Apparently, 60k a week and 40% of the transfer fee when he's sold, let's not forget a signing on fee and bonuses :o

Less demanding league, only 21 and all he needs to do is bang in 15+ goals a season, then he'd be sold for 15m-20m by 24/25 with 40% of the transfer fee in his bank account.

Fml, wish I worked harder as a kid to become a footballer instead of wasting my life getting a poxy degree :D :D

Danny Ings 'turns down R. Sociedad move'
In view of the insanely optimistic ''three signings in January'' thread being inevitably binned there was some mention in that thread of Danny Ings arousing some interest, with LFC coming into focus.
The rumblings were dismissed by reports of R. Sociedad manager David Gollum Moyes showing interest and one rag claiming Ings was actually in Spain and flirting with Mr Gollum.

The upshot is needless to say, the lad has put an end to all the insanity and reaffirmed his intention of joining LFC in the summer.

im all for this signing as he will be on cheapish wages and still young enough to come good,he may even end up being prolifc, BUT and its a huge one. This type of player is not going to attract top players to us. yes he might become a top striker but financailly we need a few more big names so the footballing community respect us more

No Summer Transfer board up yet but it should probably be in General forum until then.

Couldn't find the right thread to place it, by all means sort it if it's not too much trouble. Seemed like the story had some legs - still does.

on paper this deal makes sense but only if we can shift Borini, lambert think he's got 35 goals since last season which is not bad

Shifting anyone shouldn't really be essential mate, the lad wouldn't be thrown in at the deep end and would probably be given time to slot in.
When he does find his feet Balotelli, Borini and Lambert could be shipped, it is to their benefit that finances may over rule skill as a reason for any of them staying put.

35 goals since the beginning of last season, he is being watched by all the competition but has set his heart on LFC.
Played seven times international U21 and scored four times, seems well at home at that level.

It's a no brainer to me. He would be cheap and on low wages.

If he can score 9 PL goals with Burnley, yes Burnley, imagine how many he can score with us! If he has good players around him then obviously his game is going to get better.

      Buy him now, I say.

      So it's 6 mill and not 3?

For that money we should have done a Lebowski-style suitcase-full thrown over a bridge and scooped him up on the back of ayre's Harley.

He certainly ticks all the right boxes that's for sure, Sean Dyche has worked wonders at Turf Moor and has the same philosophy as our Brendan, Danny Ings offers far more than just plenty of goals, his work rate is second to none and his attitude is exactly what Brendan likes from his players,

I think he would fit right in here and would bring a far more than his goal threat,he's a very intelligent footballer and knows which areas he can utilise his talent, it's said we were intersted during the winter window but at that time we were still without our own Danny with Raheem pushed up as a interim striker, whether we are still interested by the time summer comes along remains to be seen,

Yes I wouldn't mind the lad wearing the bird, and think he could be as prolific as he wants to be, whether Brendan or indeed that f***in committee sees him as a good asset we'll just have to wait and see.

Tidy player who would fit in well at LFC. I have to imagine this summer will see the end of Balotelli and Borini's careers here. With Origi coming in it would leave us with 5 options up front: Studge, Ings, Origi, Sterling, and Lambert as our "Plan B"

Personally, I'd prefer us to get a world class striker who can partner Studge or lead the line in his absence, but I won't complain if Ings is the best striker we recruit this summer....

The fee will be set by a tribunal. The record fee for a player in this situation is about 3.5m. It will be around the touted 3m mark.

Liverpool deal for Danny Ings all but done – Reports

This Is Anfield on May 8, 2015

Danny Ings will be a Liverpool player this summer barring any last-minute hitch, according to reports.

The 22-year-old Burnley striker is out of contract this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield since January.

Some reports recently have suggested interest from Manchester United in the Englishman, but since United signed Memphis Depay, Liverpool look like getting Ings.

Bizarrely, Brendan Rodgers claimed on Friday morning that Liverpool were never interested in Depay – despite PSV confirming that the player held talks with the club. Perhaps Liverpool merely invited the Dutchman over for a chat about the weather.

“It [signing Depay] was not something that we were interested in,” claimed Rodgers.

Quite why you’d speak to a player but have no interest in signing that player is a bit odd. Almost as odd as Rodgers not having an interest in signing a 21-goal 21-year-old talented Dutch attacker who can operate in a front three.

If Liverpool decided their priorities lie elsewhere – eg. a player more capable of playing through the centre – then fair enough, but to claim no interest in Depay after signing him is just embarrassing.

Alas, Depay is gone and Ings now looks set to be completed.

“Barring any last-minute hitch, Burnley’s Danny Ings will be one of the additions when his contract ends in July,” writes Chris Bascombe in The Telegraph.

There’s no doubt Ings is decent player, but he is a player who has always played in a front two throughout his career so far, so there has to be a question mark over whether he could operate as a centre-forward in Rodgers’ preferred 4-3-3 formation. There’s also the question over whether he has the quality to make the step up from Burnley to Liverpool.

Ings will be joined by Divock Origi, but one player who won’t start next season is Daniel Sturridge, after the England forward underwent another operation – that will see him miss pre-season and not return to training until September.

Without Sturridge, Liverpool are prioritising the signing of another centre-forward, and will allow Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli to leave, explains Bascombe and Dominic King.

So Liverpool’s attacking options next summer will consist of Sturridge, Ings, Origi and, hopefully, one high-class, experienced centre-forward – who that is and quite how Liverpool actually manage to sign such a player of that desired calibre remains to be seen. It could be a long summer.

So bad news on Depay, club hurries up and leaks out "good" news on Ings?

Don't rate him that highly looks good in a sh*t team. Much like Downing, Adam, Carroll etc.

Would any of the other top 6 teams want him this badly. The answer is f**k no!
