Lucas was unsung hero once again - shielding the now seemingly capable defence just added to our solidity.

there are 15 games left, the next 4 are really tough ones.

Sturridge coming back is great, but he's clearly not ready to start. I hope we get a striker by the deadline

Scrappy game to be honest, glad however we came away with three points.

Sterling and Coutinho working well, and credit to both for the first goal, Coutinho's pass was exquisite and Sterling's finish was class.

It was also good to see Sturridge return with a very good finish. Sterling and Coutinho behind him will cause defenses up and down the country no end of problems.

Another loss because of our poor DM. Didnt know much about Song, but thanks to many posters on this site, I learned how amazing he was. After dominant performance of Matic at Anfield a week ago, this was another masterclass DM who destroyed Liverpool and showed how poor Lucas is. Where would have we been if we had at least Spearing instead of this fraud, Benitez pet? Get Song asap please. We still have two transfer days to save our season. Let Leiva go, I have had enough. Song is boss, would have a boss song as well.

Went for Couts for motm, he was pure quality from the highlights that were shown. Great ball for Studge to run on to as well.
Didn't think Studge coming back was going to make a massive difference to us, mainly, as I've posted earlier, 'He may score goals, but he can't do anything about our crap defending.' Well humble pie and all that, but our defence seems to have sorted itself out now. 3 C defenders seems to suit our tactics well, and Sahko has become a monster of a CB when I never thought he had the ability to become a regular early days. Paired with Skrtle, they look the best stoppers in the prem at the mo, with Can playing the cool footy around them.
Looks like we are on the mend, and long may it continue.
Just hope BR doesn't start thinking too deep and make changes that aren't necessary.  We look really strong in all departments at the mo. Even the Migs has turned things around.

The way BR set us up to play "build up from the back", the opponent can never get the ball unless we make a mistake. Pass patiently around at the back, then find space to build up on the floor from midfield to attack. We just need our strikers to get to the end of passes more often and put the ball into the back of the net.

In fairness I thought Song was very good yesterday, albeit in a poor team. Were we to sign him in the Summer (I actually advocated signing him last Summer) I think Lucas would need to be at his absolute peak in order to keep him out (Like he is playing as of now infact). I don't really do stats when comparing opposition players as it seems to me fairly obvious that it was easier to BE Lucas in that match yesterday than it was to be Song.

Stats don't tell the full story. We had by far the most possession so Lucas was always going to see more of the ball than Song. We also had quite a few tricky and quick players in our team so Song wasn't going to be able to tackle them fairly all game. I commented during the game yesterday saying that he looks a classy player but can also look a bit of a dope on the odd occasion, I stand by that and would welcome his addition should we show any interest.

Very similar to us at Bernabeu. Lucas still managed 90% passing, despite being under press all the time. Playing for "poor" team (which West Ham were not yesterday) doesnt excuse shocking stats on the ball by Song. Ive been saying it long time that Lucas quallity on the ball is masivelly underated. These stats prove it again. Bar a couple missplaced passes, he was feeding players ahead of him with crisp accurate balls all day yesterday. Some people see a big black fella in the middle flying into tackles and think he must be better than our lad. They are just wrong. I would not mind a player with similar skill-set in the squad to give Leiva a breather. I just dont buy this sh*t about any athletic defensive midfielder being better than LL whos just fouling infront of our box. Even Matič didnt touch Lucas at Anfield.
