Starting with? Not much left after Benteke is there, if we end up paying the 32.5 million release clause fee.

Raheem only gives us 49 million-5 add ons- about 9 million to QPR= 35 million.

If it's to be 32.5 mill and that's the striker the manager wants, so be it. I'm sorry mate I think it's as simple as that, and I rate the player in any case so it's an easy one IMHO.

I'd prefer if we just spunked what's left of the fee on Lacozette.

The game has officially gone mad though. It's arguable whether he is even worth half of that fee.

Yup we should bid £30 million on Lacazzette immediately.

      £49 million that will do.

Now go get Lacazzette and Reus!!!

:lmao: Why not Messi as well Baz. We're going to end up with around 35 mill up front and you think we can but BOTH of these players, and fund their wage demands? Also, isn't Reus on crutches?

£49m (or £44m + £5m) is still a pretty damn good deal on our end. For City, they're getting a very good player.

My only hope now is that we don't F**k the money like we've done in previous years. Please, please, please buy quality.

We also have £30 million of a kitty plus whatever we get from player sales.

Reus looked ok the other day...

Superb natural ability, probably doesn't have the intelligence to fully realise it. Very happy with 49m but it's a shocking indictment on the way football has become when someone.

Let's just remember that Zidane cost Real £50m back in 2001. No one in their wildest dream would believe 13 years later that a guy who's arguably only had half a season of top top performances (during 2013-2014 season) would be costing a football club the same amount as Zidane, one of the top 5 players the world has ever seen. Sterling barely makes the top 5 players of Liverpool in the last two seasons. Ludicrous.

Adjusted for inflation Zidane cost around £70 or £80 million.

      Still ridiculous money for Sterling.

      But let's not complain!

As a player of great potential it is very sad to see him go, but his behavior and that of his pimp/agent mean my overwhelming feeling is of relief, the days of putting a players name on the back of my shirt are long gone as most are now just passing through.

This just goes to show we got reemed on the Suarez fee.

If we could sell Sterling for 50m....Suarez should have cost Barca 125m.

      Agree.

Like him or not he is obviously the clubs and the managers top target.

That's what we all moan about isn't it?

FSG getting the players the manager wants.

I've defended the Benteke interest, but I can't see how our first push shouldn't be for Lacazette. Benteke as a fall back makes more sense to me.

Mate, I've been fine with getting Benteke even before Sterling got sold. And in the last few weeks I've stopped caring about the ridiculous fees being paid in the PL these days. Just can't be bothered by it anymore. So not bothered by Benteke's fee either.

My comment was more directed at the starting with bit, was just pointing out there won't be much spending on several players, at least not specifically as a result of this transfer.

I don't agree - I think we got a fair amount for Suarez, but Sterling at £50m is definitely overpriced. This is the price you pay for a world class player in their prime - Sterling is neither world class yet, or in his prime. And it's not a question of when he will become world class, but IF he becomes.

      Disagree.

They need English and they have money. Club played a blinder here getting that much for him. A 20 year old winger who wants out of his club going for £49m :D

I wish City every success with Sterling and his agent. I am just glad the circus that is Sterling will now be City's problem.
As a Club we move on, no place for players like him, and if he plays like he did last season, they'll lynch him!

I thought we shouldnt sell to an English rival for less than £50m. But £49m is close enough.

Unlike some I think he'll be a good player for City.
      I hope he's a disaster though.

Anyway, good riddance to the spoilt wee sh*te.

Sterling is a top talent, but we got a really good deal for him!! Now let's get the remaining players the manager wants in the door so we can be ready to hit the ground running on August 8th.
