28% - and that is a damning stat in most analysis - not a good one. Whilst it is clear he is an excellent player, it is more than likely that these numbers are unsustainable. If he were taking lots of shots, particularly in the box and having these sorts of numbers that would be good, but as it stands it is very very likely that he will regress.

He's currently taking 2.06 shots per 90 inside the area which is a really low number for a top level striker.

Costa is someone who has a very high conversion rate (27%) but because his shots are all taken from good positions, it far less likely he will regress.

Basically, Lacazette's underlying numbers suggest that he isn't as good as goals tally says he is, but is still a great player.

I agree theyr'e not sustainable mate but they're getting him noticed.

Barkley would be a fantastic transfer, but i don't think it's likely. He's at Hendo's level at least.

      I'd rather have Henderson.

I can't really agree. Conversion rates don't get players noticed- goals do - conversion rates get analysed to see if a player is actually as good as their goal tally.

Why did the transfer forum disappear?

      Was it harming someone?

Because most of us have better things to do than constantly talk about players we don't have and will never buy.

Also it is locked at this time every year Fed.

Maybe if we repeat it over and over again the message will finally stick....

Has it? Ppl go bonkers for a transfer thread.. Perhaps it would've helped if we had a General Rumors thread. Oh wait..

Ajayi, you are clearly living in dream land. For starters, this season Lucas has been better than he has ever been by nearly every metric. Secondly, you think we'll get Lacazette for 25mil? I'll have what your smoking. Its hard to say given the current market and how desperate the lower clubs are for strikers, but I reckon getting 10mil for Borini is quite optimistic.

      Ajayi,the only problem with your post is that it was merely optimistic. Atleast it wasn't totally moronic like GeorgeReds's;

Skrtel Lucas, Lovren and Allen out? Maybe one of them, but I'd rather none of them left. Lovren's value is at its lowest and I honestly believe that he can be a decent squad player for us in the future. Skrtel is immense - an excellent player so George can go to f**k there. Ditto Lucas. Allen is a very useful player and worth having in the squad. A better box-to-box player than Lucas, and a better DM than Henderson. Utility. That said, we have two B2B, one DM and one utility player - it wouldn't hurt the squad much if we swapped the Utility player out for another specialist DM.

      Also you seem to be giving up on all our prospects/loanees;

      Andre Wisdom
      Tiago Ilori
      Joao Teixeira
      Luis Alberto
      Sebastian Coates

I reckon atleast one of them will take up a squad role next season. Probably Wisdom or Illori, but one of the others may be a dark horse.

I don't mind people picking out players like its football manager - its fun. But atleast do it with some sense:

Miralem Pjanic/Lars Bender/Mateo Kovacic - 3 very different players. There's not much point of a slash indicating "or" if the players you want to add have nothing in common. No-one in their right mind should ever think "damn we missed out on Pjanic, lets go for Bender". You either wanted a Bender type player in the first place or you didn't.
Also, given the number of players you want leaving compared to the relative few coming in, it seems you are against the idea of having a decent sized squad. Which is also pretty thick.

When someone suggests gutting their team despite them playing well, it either makes them a moron or a WUM. Take your pick.
i like Ilori i didnt put him on the out's section but Coates and alberto for me will be sold as they didnt really get a chance under BR after he signed them. I also didnt say get Skrtel out, at least i dont think i did. I like lucas just feel that with his age and injuries he's had in the last few seasons he may be used to fund a newer model that's all.

          Jones, Bradley (1)
          Mignolet, Simon (22)
          Alberto Moreno (18)
          Flanagan, Jon (38)
          Javi Manquillo (19)
          Johnson, Glen (2)
          José Enrique (3)
          Kolo Touré (4)
          Lovren, Dejan (6)
          Sakho, Mamadou (17)
          Skrtel, Martin (37)
          Allen, Joe (24)
          Can, Emre (23)
          Coutinho (10)
          Gerrard, Steven (8.)
          Henderson, Jordan (14)
          Ibe, Jordan
          Lallana, Adam (20)
          Lucas (21)
          Sterling, Raheem (31)
          Balotelli, Mario (45)
          Borini, Fabio (29)
          Lambert, Rickie (9)
          Markovic, Lazar (50)
          Sturridge, Daniel (15)

If I didn't leave anyone out, this is our current squad. The bold printed players are the ones we should get rid off (or are gonna to leave anyway)

I don't why everyone is so determined to "buy a whole new squad", but as one of the previous poster said this isn't Football manager.

I know a lot of players didn't perform very well (or played really poor (e.g. Allen, Lovren, Balo)) However this is no reason to get rid off them! I wouldn't sell any of them! They might not be regular starters but they are squad players. Bear in mind every season is quite long and injuries happen very quickly!

Well, first of all we should invest in a proper midfield player to "replace" Gerrard. Overall our midfield looks a bit unbalanced and needs improvement especially with the depature of Stevie. For that reason I would push Emre Can into a midfield roll and would  buy another player who can cover Lucas's job.

If Can gets pushed into midfield and we sell Toure we definitely need another CB. I would love to see us buy a good and solid CB (as many I thought Lovren might be that player but so far he proved us wrong) but also give young Ilori a chance.

I don't think we need any alteration  in the attacking areas. If Sterling signs the new contract we have enough options with Lallana, Sterling, Markovic, Coutinho, Ibe, Sturridge, Balotelli and Lambert.

Hopefully Flanno comes back into the team at the beginning of next season. Nevertheless I think we should go for another RB/RWB.

Finally we should look for a another goalkeeper to challenge Migs.

Whoever we sell or buy the replacements need to be top quality and not just avaerage squad players. This season has proven we need a big squad for all the games you have being in Europe but we just didnt have that CL quality in the squad. Gerrard/sturridge excluded, next season we will have more experiance with the likes of Coutinho,Sterling, Can,Markovich all playing more and gaining experiance.
we do however need one or two players that have played in the CL and have experiance winning things, maybe one or two older players for example Lavazzi from PSG.

Lucas out? F***ing hell. He has arguably been our best player this season.

Barkley is sh*te can't believe any red would want him here. It's got F**k all about him playing for EFC, I was made up when we signed Barmby because he was a good player at the time, its to do with Barkley being probably the most over rated footballer in England right now. He is average at best. He scored a wonder goal at Norwich last season and people started talking about him but he has done F**k all since. He can't even get a game for everton at the moment, most of their fans would prefer Naismith over him which is F***ing saying something.

Would love khedira here. Imagine a midfield of him, Can and Henderson. Two big Germans and, well, Hendo. We've been a bit lightweight in midfield in recent seasons and all of a sudden we would have two massive grocks in there bullying teams but who can also play football too! Sign him up!  It won't happen though, we'll end up with Robbie Savage on loan from the BBC.

Mate, most of my post was aimed at Georgered's. Only the first paragraph was replying to you. Your post was fine, even though I must strongly disagree with any notion of getting rid of Lucas. Right now, he is playing as well as the best in his position in the world. It makes no sense to get rid due to injuries, as we only lose a month or two per season.

For what it's worth 2/3s into our current season, so let's go down the hypothetical route....

      Outs....                                      Ins....
      Jones                                         Busquets
      Coates                                       Walcott
      Johnson                                     Reus
      Kolo                                           Clyne
      Allen                                          Lloris
      Aspas                                         Barclay *
      Alberto
      Lambert
      Borini

We can all dream can't we, since this is purely hypothetical the Ins are my personal choice and we'd have next to no F***ing chance of signing any of them, but never say never in this game,

Edit; * the only reason Barclay is sh*te is because he's playing in a sh*te team, I certainly wouldn't mind him crossing Stanley park and have Brendan work his magic on him, it's almost certain he wouldn't turn his back on blueshite but stranger things have happened before.

      OUT

      Brad Jones
      Glen Johnson
      Steven Gerrard
      Joe Allen
      Mario Balotelli
      Sebastian Coates

      Return from loans

      Andre Wisdom

      Divock Origi

I'd keep hold of Enrique and Lovren for now but wouldn't be surprised to see either or both leave.  I'd give Kolo another year as well.

      Would agree with that.
      2 out of the 3 (Enrique/Kolo/Lovren)

Somewhere in the region of 8 players that, if they can be sold, should be sold. - Stevie and Johnson who will go for free, and lighten the wages.

At that stage can the club just sign 3 or 4 proper players for once?
      No? *Sigh*

Would keep Allen I think he is useful as a squad player.

Balotelli has three months to prove his worth but I would still replace him over the Summer if we can find a more mobile striker.

The rest can go and I would add Borini and Lambert to your list also.

F**k sake George I'm glad your not in charge, you've stripped out our defence and our midfield, may as well sell Raheem, Coutinho and Sturridge cos we've got practically f**k all left,...

"Hello, is there anybody in there, just nod if you can hear me, is there anyone home, relax, I hear your feeling down, I can ease your pain, put you on your feet again, there is no pain you are receding, a distant ship smoke on the horizon""...

Are you 'Comfortably Numb' George ?

      YNWA

      Maybe improving the defence ? What's wrong in that ? What's wrong on a defence lineup like this : Clyne - Hummels - Sakho/Laporte - Moreno ?
