Lets forget the Manchester United game and quickly move on. 4th position is still very much a possibility should we get a point (or better) at the Emirates and perhaps Brendan Rodgers may revert to the formation which bought us so much success last season too.

      Mignolet

      Flanagan - Can - Sakho - Moreno

      Lucas

      Henderson - Allen

      Coutinho

      Sturridge - Sterling

Subs: Jones, Johnson, Toure, Williams, Ibe, Markovic, Balotelli

You know, given the way this season has went so far, I wouldn't at all be surprised if we went to the Emirates and won comfortably!
The Lads know this could be the final nail in our 4th place coffin if we lose, and I expect them to respond accordingly.

I would seriously consider moving Can out to DM to keep tabs on Dirty Sanchez, with Toure taking his place.

Guessing Sturridge will be a major doubt with him being ruled out of both England games.

He'll be fine. He just doesn't want to play for Roy Hodgson at the fear of getting injured again. Nothing wrong with him.   :lmao:

After that performance at the weekend there's no way Moreno should be anywhere near the team in this game. If Ibe's fit, he should be restored to the team. I'd go with a 3-4-1-2 formation consisting of Mignolet in goal, Lovren, Can and Sahko in defence, Ibe, Henderson, Allen and Markovic as our midfield four, with Coutinho supporting Sterling and Sturridge playing up top. Yes I realise Markovic will be out of position but off the top of my head, I can't think of who else we could put there other than Enrique and I'm not convinced he's the player he was post-injury.

      Mignolet

      Lovren   Can  Sakho

      Ibe   Henderson   Allen   Markovic

      Coutinho

      Sturridge   Sterling

Sturridge looks better when he has a partner up front but the formation allows Sterling to drop back to support Cou as and when needed. I know some of you have misgivings about the formation but the formation wasn't the problem against United, it was a combination of the players playing sh*te, United bullying us off the ball and Brendan failing to adapt the tactics quick enough to make a difference. Gerrard having a rush of blood didn't help matters either.

You never know, as much in hope really but that defeat (the first in a while in the league) could really buck the ideas up and G the lads on for the next game. How the respond will be interesting. The form had dipped and this was a wake up call. Hopefully the lads can respond with a stern test down at Arsenal. Hopefully the munts will show some complacency in some of their fixtures.

The hope for a Champions League spot isn't gone, the munts have Villa next up at home, Citeh, Chelsea and Everton. So long as we can get three points against Arsenal, and I think it's possible, though Skertel will be a f**king huge loss, we're still in with a chance.

IIRC, Kolo played for us before down there and had a f**king mare of a game, don't know if its time for Lovren to come back in, instead. Or whether Kolo's previous game there has any relevance to this game?

We need to look back to last season when everyone billed our clash against Man City as the title decider but even though we won that game Citeh would eventually go on to win the title. Agreed last result was a huge blow to our top 4 aspirations but to say all is lost is way off the mark. However I would like the team to forget about our position in the table and just focus on winning this game.

      Mignolet
      Lovren   Can  Sakho
      Ibe   Henderson   Allen   Markovic
      Coutinho
      Sturridge   Sterling

Can against Giroud might not be a good idea really! Kolo comes in for Skrtel but clueless as hell reg our wingbacks. I would fancy the 3-Diamond-3 here, with Lucas at the base, and Sterling, Ibe as the 'wingers'

      Mignolet
      Can-Toure-Sakho
      Lucas
      Hendo         Allen
      Coutinho
      Sterling                     Ibe
      Sturridge

We need more goals which even during our good run was something we found hard to come by.

Our main striker is being isolated and is too far away from the midfield hence he is dropping deep to pick up the ball, time to invert the diamond up top and have Sterling and Sturridge ahead of Coutinho. Will certainly give Mertesacker plenty to think of.

Lovren has done enough to get a recall, but is he good enough for the sweeper role or does he play RCB?

Hope fully Ibe is fit and Markovic as the two wingbacks.

With Skrtel banned and Lovren injured with something about his hip. I will go:

                      Mignolet

            Can     Toure      Sakho

      Sterling      Lucas           Allen

          Henderson       Coutinho

              Sturridge    Balotelli

team just needs to be fired up to try nick some points back we cant lose 2 on the bounce if we want any hope of taking a top 4 spot. all is not lost yet we could get a result and Utd slip up once or twice when we win and its all back on.

Need to get right back at it for the Arsenal match. Skyrtel suspended is not good news, and SG also might have been pushing for a start. And seems Lovren unavilable too.
      So would probably go:

              Migs
          Can Toure Sahko
      Johnson Allen Hendo Moreno
      Sterling Sturridge Coutinho

Sterling as wingback did not work. Needs to be further up. Jonno to come back.
Moreno was poor, would be a risk to play him against Arsenals attack. But not sure what better option there is, so might give him chance to redeem himself.
Would consider Lucas in the middle and move Hendo to FB (and not play Moreno) - but game like this imo is too soon for Lucas.
If Lovren injured, Toure has to come in.
Lallana needs to on top form to start (or for there to be injuries), crucial miss in the Utd game, he needs to deliver in big matches.
Don't bother with Mario on the bench, the guy should be packing his bags. If only we had another striking option (blue in face saying that), Lambert ain't the answer and no sign of Borini, assume completely frozen out (or injured?)
This is a tough ask. Arsenal are playing well. A win would be a great result, would settle for a draw now.

So, now the team picks itself cos of Sturridge's injury. Not sure if Lallana is fully fit either. Will probably go with this

      Migs
      Can-Toure-Sakho
      Johnson-Hendo-Allen-Moreno
      Markovic-Coutinho
      Sterling

Subs - Jones, Lovren, Lucas, Lallana, Ibe, Lambert, Balotelli

Lucas was on the bench v Mancs so 2 weeks later he must be raring to start, so no brainer for me he starts and his experience and defensive nous will be needed at the Emirates.
