aparently he said he wants another season with Lyon  :'(

still i would offer 35mil for him dont go in with a low 20mil offer which would be rejected.

F*ck, this isn't even a debate for me. The guy has strength, pace and can finish. I'd say he's got more Anelka about him then Henry, and I was proper pissed when we let Anelka go.

He'll be attracting 30m, I'd jump in there if we can convince him to come. Sure he's no Suarez (who is?) and he's probably not as skillful as Sanchez, but for his pace and finishing, he fits our style perfectly.

£30 mill for a striker from France? unproven at the highest level.

how many strikers have been sold from the french league for as much?

I have heard good things about him though, but am worried about continually overpaying....Benzema (when/if sold) will go for around the 25-30 mill mark i feel

Fast, good shot, good in the air. In a weak league.

BUT I haven't seen much of his left foot. And I haven't seen much of his abilities in tighter spaces/when the defence has drawn deep.

Hitting a team on the break with pace might look good on youtube. But you need more than that against decent PL teams.

Would be interesting to look at him in more depth tho.

Hitting teams on the break with pace and scoring is what got us second place in the league last seaosn.

Replacing this ability with the Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert statues is why we are where we are this season.

Lacazette would be a wonderful and badly needed addition to this squad.

Not that it's going to happen.

the issue is we wont go for him and he will end up going for around the same price as lallana(who i rate) but i dont think was needed.
this lad ticks all the boxes like people have mentioned below, pair him with origi or a fit Sturridge or markovic/Sterling/ibe and we have real options there with pace.
when the window opens we need to act fast

here are some stats on him i managed to (google) for those who are not familiar with Frog footie, i must admit i've not watched him live only highlights but from stats and what i've seen in the highlights he could grow to be as big as Benzima for France and is even being scouted as the next Henry.

i think we should not play hardball (if we are interested) go there ask Lyon how much to take him off their hands ask his agent what wages are you after and bloody pay it, sell Sterling to fund it if we have to

Sign Schneiderlin, and together with Sakho, they will tap Lacazette up. When this happens, Depay will see we mean business and sign for us. Alternatively, we get Lucas and Coutinho to give Firmino a ring if Depay doesn't want to join :D

It's not really that difficult is it? :)

Sell Markovic or Lallana. We shouldn't be selling our best players. We need to make a statement of intent for the coming season this Summer and not one that says our intent is to challenge for a Europa League place.

Hope I am not being too much pessimistic
But I bet he will not come here if we are NOT the only club for him
other clubs will offer more for him and will offer him much higher wages , this has happened many times with different players these last few seasons , and will keep on happening if don't change the club's strategy

      Chavs are persueing Lacazette.

If they sign him I can see them walking the league again next season.

With their sh*te arse tactics I can't believe the managed to walk it the way they have this season. It's not their quality it's the lack of quality in the other teams in my opinion.

If Arsenal went for it or City got Klopp/Rafa they'd destroy them.

Lacazette looks a really solid player from what I've seen (which isn't much in all honesty), but for me the real gem in Lyon is Fekir.  He is so skillful and I think he is more likely to become a truly world class player than Lacazette, but that's just off the handful of times I've seen him play.  Problem is that Fekir is more of an attacking midfield or withdrawn CF type and we need an out-and-out striker badly...

Exactly mate we need Lacazette he should be out top target this Summer if we have any ambition.

Depay's move to the scums would make us look more desperate, meaning the price goes up esp if other 'suitors' are in

Newcastle agreed a fee of approx 17 mill

We should be paying the same sort of money for him - regardless of what sort of season he has had, he is one year older and has one year less on his contract

Its all down to how we negotiate (which suggests that it wont happen at this price)

Now we have missed out on Depay we need to make this guy our marquee signing.

That will require a bid much higher than £17 million.

I dont disbelieve you, but i do question why it would take a bigger bid.

Cant think of many strikers from the french league that have gone for big money.

Newcastle managed to agree a fee of approx 17 mill last season and not much has changed.

And he wants to leave too....that should drive the price down

and his goal scoring record is good for past 2 seasons, he isnt the finished article and is not a regular starter for France

The answer is Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG.
