I see Ballotelli got a start but as I missed the first 3/4 of the match don't know how he performed but seeing the posts on here he was his usual self, which again begs the question Balotelli as a one up front when has that ever worked for us previously?

When I saw Borini warming up I thought great, Rodgers is going all out for the win, take off Johnson or the like only to see Balo hauled off!!
Don't think I saw Borini touch the ball while he was on.

Typical muddled up thinking from Rodgers thst we have seen all season.

I actually don't think Balo was as bad as some of the posters made out to be, If we had Batistuta, Fowler, or Sturridge, we still wouldn't have scored :(  This game was tailor made for a deep lying playmaker, but we had the wrong setup. I can see why Pulis didn't need his players to pressure Gerrard, he literally had nothing in front of him.

The problem for me was the tactics. Coutinho, Hendo , our wide players and full backs were all played wrong vs a defense team. It was definitely a game we should've won as they did look vulnerable when we actually put pressure on them.

I only got to see about minute 10-30, then had to listen on the radio. Sounded like we controlled the game but lack a killer instinct and a deadly finisher.......go figure.

the rot has truly planted itself now , after the sh*t performance on Sunday i thought the team would give it a fair auld  go . Instead we got a spineless performance , apart from Lovren Skrtel Coutinho and Ibe the rest were like a bull in  a china shop . Porridge is what we're been served up all day long . Now don't get me wrong i like Porridge but we paid for fillet steak .

I always do mate if I miss the game.

I know it's only selected highlights but if I don't get a chance to see a re run it gives me a bit of an idea on how things went.

We laid siege to that WBA goal mouth all game and all they done was fumble around like a new born calf . It was pathetic , that Sterling needs selling on fairly lively , Ibe is by far the better of the 2 .

what I don't understand is the attitude, the approach to this game.

At the start of the match, we were on 57 points, and City were on 64 points.  And they played after us.  Given that we have a game in hand, that meant that if we won today and at Hull, and City lost against Villa, then we would be on 63 points, only one point behind them.

But the players didn't play as if it was a must win.  How can you go out there knowing that in a couple of days we could be 1 point out of fourth if results go our way, and play without urgency, without bottle?

      I don't get it.

      I haven't seen it Fed.

But if it was similar to our attitude to winning a place in the FA Cup final then it's just more of the same this week.

No offense to you though but I'd like to hear some other views and try to get to see the game myself before judging.

You talking about the Man Utd game? The Arsenal game? The semi final? Or today?

Would be funny if it wasn't true mate.

Strange that Lovren is top of the poll in a game that some say we dominated.

It's all gone downhill steadily from that City victory at the beginning of March. Today was as bad as last week, we were lucky that West Brom didn't want to play for 85 minutes. They sat back, couldn't hold the ball at all yet all we created was the Ibe chance and the one Hendo had blocked (we didn't even created that it came from two blocks/saves).

A year ago if you gave Gerrard that much space he would have picked out forward passes for fun and we would have created tonnes of chances. Shows how much our attack has suffered when he had the freedom of the whole pitch but couldn't get us going at all.

well.  to be honest I don't know if I would include the games against Arsenal and the Mancs.  unfortunately I think we just got outplayed by better teams in those games.  especially by Arsenal.  they're just so far ahead of us it's not even funny.  all the bottle in the world wouldn't have won us that game.

But we SHOULD be beating Villa and West Brom.  so to go into those games without the right attitude, I just don't get it.

He looked way off the boil.  Shocked he's started the last two games to be honest.  Has one of the worst win records of any Liverpool player this season.  I'd be giving him cameo's for the last 5 games.

I said in his thread I wouldn't start him again this season so I was also surprised he started.

But then Brendan though he was excellent against Villa so he must have deserved it.

Says it all mate and in all honestly he did one decent tackle (on the half-way line) won some duels vs anichebe (wow) and a clearance that was going wide anyway. Shows how poor we were.

Now not to take the gloss off Lovren's performance because it was his best by quite some distance in recent times so well done to him but it is a reflection of how bad we were at the other end.

Only just realised after watching the highlights that Moreno wasn't even in the match day squad and Glen started LB.

      He wasn't injured was he?

Yeah took a knock apparently but still doesn't excuse Johnson getting a game.
